hey watsup guys

so i started installing my vrsf fmic yesterday and managed to do alright on my own, but i am confused about some parts and after doing some research i decided to seek help on the forums.

here is the intercooler all mounted in after some minor fabrication

<a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=15gxoxs" target="_blank"><img src="http://i50.tinypic.com/15gxoxs.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

how is the upper intecooler piping supposed to go?? i can either run it with my old piping with a 1g recirculated bov, or a new hks bov that i bought....the upper intercooler piping i got from vr-speed has an hks adapter on it.

<a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=14vhh7t" target="_blank"><img src="http://i49.tinypic.com/14vhh7t.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

This is the current J pipe that i have on the car right now, can i use this or do i have to order the exact one off of vr-speed? so my question is can i use it pointing towards the passenger side, or does it have to go towards the drivers side?

<a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=2hqywbp" target="_blank"><img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/2hqywbp.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

I plan to bend the bracket so the piping clears, what is the piping supposed to look like on this side??

<a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=zl245z" target="_blank"><img src="http://i50.tinypic.com/zl245z.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

This is what it looks like from the bottom

Tiny 14b...soon to be FP 20G

Vr-speed and extra piping couplers and clamps

LOL your pictures are HUGE! Well in piping is pretty straight forward for install. You have to use everything the kit came with. Meaning the throttle elbow you still have on has to go, and you cant use your 1g bov since you new piping has the HKS flange. Your current jpipe has to go as well, use the one the gave you. It will not work with the twisted jpipe you have right now. Lastly, yes you gotta bend that bracket for you oil cooler. You have to make enough from for the coupler and t-clamp to fit. All in all these are great FMIC, just a PIA to install

Sorry about the huge pics.....resizing them right now

when im ordering the j pipe from vr-speed should i get the one for the 2g or 1g?? since im running a 14b turbo??

Uhhmm from the pictures you posted, the jpipe you need is the silver one. If that is not yours then VRSF has a category for 14b/16g jpipes, not 1g/2g

hey thanks so much, i already read the first two links but the third one was new and helped me out alot in the past 20 mins! :hellyeah:

one last question

in my old piping the lower pipe has a thread in it with something linked to my wastegate screwed onto it, my question is do i need to drill and tap one into my new piping?? sounds like a stupid question but i think i need too

here are some pics

in the first pic you can see the hole in the black piping that i am asking if i should make a new one in my new piping

Got it, the silver one in the pics is a random one i ordered off of ebay for a 14b turbo....

I ordered mine last week, so hopefully should be getting it this week and installed this weekend, cant wait!

Really?? you ordered it last week and are already expecting it?? i ordered mine the first day of july and didnt get it untill a week ago WTF

You either need to drill and tap your compressor housing, or weld a nipple on one of your pipes.

Does it matter which piece of piping i do it too?? the only side it leaves is the drivers side piping because the passenger side has my bov on it and is directly linked from the throttle body to the intercooler.

also can i just drill and tap the piping and screw it on to that, or do i have to get it welded?? thats how it was on the old set up

Also anyone know if the punishment racing J pipe will work for me with this vrsf kit??

Any J-pipe should work, the point of the J-Pipe is so you can get the pipe off the turbo pointed down cause of the td05h compressor cover configuration.

If you were to mount this turbo you wouldnt need a J-Pipe cause as you can see the compressor has the outlet pointed down towards the ground.

Any J-pipe should work...

Almost any that gets it pointed towards the drivers side should.

I had to reclock my turbo to make mine fit a little better. I bought one used from someone and it was an unknown brand. It hit my fans until I rotated my compressor cover. That was fun...

Yeah, your right mine hit the fan also. I just got slim fans and it was fine. I have the one that comes with the extremspsi kit.

Got it man that cleared things up alot for me, :thumb:

I ended up ordering a J pipe from Punishment Racing for a very good price, so hopefully it'll all go smooth once it comes. Havent had much time to work on the car this past week been busy with work and school and waiting on this Pipe. But itll all be worth it in the end, and the next step is gunna be getting ready to throw the FP 20G in :dsm:

Yah thanks. I made sure the Punishment Racing J pipe points towards the drivers side.

So what did you do with your trans cooler? I moved mine to where the SMIC was. It also helped because it shortened the lines by a mile. Install looks good, where is the engine bay pic?? :D

Lol i dont know wether to take that as a compliment or insult??:hmm: regardless i like the way it looks and thats all that matters. Although i am going to have to redo the front bumper soon.

oh thats a really good idea i didnt think of that......what i ended up doing was clamping down the hoses and removing them from the cooler, connecting the intercooler piping and routing the cooler lines around the intercooler piping. In order to do that i also had to remove all the bolts that were holding the cooler in place and use zip ties and wire to keep it up.

Your not gonna see big numbers from cutting the bumper more and I think it looks like a kid got ahold of it. I understand why people do it. I just wouldnt. It looks good man.

Its personal preference. I cut my stock eclipse bumper and even the talon bumper i have on now. Just opened up the top of each one, not hacking the hell out of it. I like the idea of good flow through it front to back and side to side if you are understanding where i am gettin at :D

Op the install looks good all around just get that trans cooler on the passenger side and secure it properly.

You should cut the bumper to get more air flowing to the intercooler.

Yah kinda liked 99DSMGSX said it really wont make too much of a difference in airflow, my old dsm had it cut and i kinda wanna leave the top part of this one the way it is for now.

Thanks for everything again the cars been running strong and smooth since the install.

Now for my next build getting the 20g on the DSM
