Usually the jpipe form a stock side mount and a fmic are different so probably

Normal j-pipes don't work unfortunately. They are about 6" the wrong way from our LICP.

anyone ever used a coupler? dont want to wait and save for the the j pipe to order :/

You'd have to cut the lower pipe and use an additional coupler to lengthen it. One more potential boost leak and close to $20 in cost.

could i use the j pipe from my 14b on this intercooler.

or do i really need to waste the extra cash for the vrsf j pipe?

Yes, with the way this kit is designed you do need to get that J pipe. not necessarily a vrsf one its a bit pricey, i ordered one from punishment racing and it was here with in 2 days of me ordering it....just needs to point towards the drivers side and go between the fan shrouds.
