Normal j-pipes don't work unfortunately. They are about 6" the wrong way from our LICP.
 
You'd have to cut the lower pipe and use an additional coupler to lengthen it. One more potential boost leak and close to $20 in cost.

could i use the j pipe from my 14b on this intercooler.

or do i really need to waste the extra cash for the vrsf j pipe?

Yes, with the way this kit is designed you do need to get that J pipe. not necessarily a vrsf one its a bit pricey, i ordered one from punishment racing and it was here with in 2 days of me ordering it....just needs to point towards the drivers side and go between the fan shrouds.
