on my 98 gst. the only mods that are done with it is cat back apexi exhuast and greddy type r bov.. and gauges.. now the bov is not vented back into the air intake.. now when i first did these mods the car ran fine. but did run a tad bit rich... but 4 months later my car started acting up horribly first it started running very very rich and would die each time i would stop at a light.. also the rpms dropped down to 200-400 . but will not do it after i have the car sit for 2 days or so.. when i do sit it for 2 days. it will take about half a day before it starts acting up again.. could this be a sign of a bad idle air intake motor?

I assume you mean IAC motor (idle air control) when you say "idle air intake" motor. Everyone is going to tell you to recirculate that bov, but you could start by checking the throttle body area and maybe cleaning it out. Have you done a boost leak test? If not you also need to do that. Other than that, IDK, maybe a tuneup or at least pull the plugs and have a looksie. After all plugs can tell alot about how a motor is running.:)
-also- How do you know it's running "really really rich"? It's blowing black out the exhaust? You can smell/taste the extra fuel?

how do you now its running rich...do you have a wideband ?
and jesus christ recirculate that BOV if you haven't yet...

You need a wide band air to fuel ratio gauge to tell if its running rich or not. If you have one and you know for a fact that its running pig rich, HOOK THE RECIRCULATION TUBE UP!!!! If you vent to the atmosphere, you run rich on shifts and it will stall when you come to a stop. I know the sound is kinda cool for a bit but I would rather have a car that runs right. Hook the tube back up and report back with the results. Youll ruin your motor if you keep doing this.

well since the problem started i have done a leak test and there is a little leak around the bov . ive done plugs and wires. new throttle position sensor and throttle body. . and i jsut found out tonight when i started the car to run for a little bit .. there is a little exhaust leak where the cat connects to the next pipe. ( bad gasket) ....grr LOL

oh and yes you can smell the gas horribly out the exhaust and leaves and black residue on the ground from it. haha found tht out when i told my friend to put his head next to the muffler see if he smelled gas and he put his head right in front of it.. so u know i had to rev it up.. and of course the black residue went all over his face.. all i could say is haha my car kinda crapped on yas..

Your house is burning down and you are aiming your fire extinguisher at the neighbors cat.

It's probably blowing all the carbon out from months of running vented. My car was originally vented and the exhaust manifold, head, and intake were all absolutely black. It's likely that everything you've replaced has be coated in carbon too. If the BISS bypass is completely clogged with carbon deposits, you'll get a low idle. Your plugs are likely fouled too, even though you just changed them. Recirculate your valve, please?

You need a wideband to tell if it's a rich, but pig rich as you call it can be heard and seen without a wideband.

Your fueling is definitely more accurate when running the BOV recirculated like it is supposed to be. Mitsu didn't only do it to make it quieter.
