Ok so I'll start off with the very beginning...
I traded for this 1995 Eclipse GST with a 1999 body conversion with brand new engine and low mile tranny. The "mods" that came on the car are a aftermarket Blitz Boost gauge, GReddy Catback Exhaust, GReddy turbo timer and a Injen intake. Good Deal right? Sorta, I traded a 1994 3000GT built to 320hp nonturbo with custom exhaust 17inch rims Injen intake and a bunch of other nice stuff as well as a GST Spyder I picked up as a project it was in running condition but needed work, Anyways ...
When I got the car and actually had a chance to get into "minor" replacement of stuff beginning with the fried headlight harnessing. I began to realize that yes this was a new engine ..but every sensor and wire harness was old, very old. So I replaced most of the sensors the Fuel loop temp sensor the front O2 sensor etc. then I got to the good stuff. They had tried to repair the radiator with some RTV of some sorts but did not complete the curing process so after the top of the radiator blew apart...yes, blew apart. I replaced it with a brand new one along with all of the 15 years old hoses. During this period of time I began to hoard parts I got a v2.5 dsmlink and a 16g turbo along with a GReddy type RZ BOV and a walbro 255. So with that said you would imagine I would start to get through all of the Upper IC hard piping and begin boost leak tests so I can start my upgrading path well no. So I went around for about a month chasing boost leaks
first it was the BOV flange then it was the throttle body then the idle screw then the Injector seals then the Flange on the BOV piping bent
replaced that. After replacing the Injector seals I turn the car on forgetting that I have DSMLINK on a 95 ECU so the CAS doesnt flip so I put the plug wires on wrong three times before I realized what I was doing. The best part is I had it right one of those times but the new Walbro 255 fuel pump fell down a little and was not pumpin fuel into the system and causing it to not prime, fixed that. So now I sit waiting on Injectors in order to run the 16g sitting here looking at me. But the car is now 100% so far
Update as of 8-8-2011
So I got the 750 injectors ... heh I spent two days pulling off the t25 on my car and the 16g off of my wife's car and swapped them. I also installed the injectors and that was simple other than the clips not wanting to go, I just said screw it and held them while lowering the fuel rail. The turbos on the other hand ..well, not so easy as you can imagine I broke one bolt off on the turbo manifold due to the previous owner not putting it in correctly. Then I got everything done and my top oil return line is leaking from the turbo so now I have to fix that as well as new boost leaks created by me moving stuff around. So as it stands my car is still under the operating table not even on top of it yet ..under
Update 8-23-11
Ok, now the fun begins, I just got rid of my GReddy exhaust to move up to 3" RRE. I also got a LC-1 with DB gauge. After alot of research I can finally move on to the installation I just hope all goes well. Anyways after the LC-1 then it's on to porting the manifold and the o2 housing. During this little time down i also installed a fluidyne radiator and picked up a 3" APEXI Downpipe so with the new 3" exhaust I'll be good on the air flow portion. Boost leak from the throttle body is still there so a rebuild is in the very near future. Other wise things are going smoothly, I'll keep this updated.... Until next time !
Update 8-27-11
Ok so .... LC1 was installed today by Kris (Banishedmonk) all I need to do is go to the exhaust shop and have two things done...I really want to put a list of bad words all over this entry at this point because I am sooo f@#king tired of having to depend on any kind of over priced shop period, if I had the welder i would learn how to weld and do it myself. So basically a bunge and the mother F#$king 3" pipe with flange because the new exhaust does NOT fit the APEXI 3" Downpipe . Why in the hell would they sell a 3" cat back exhaust that is 2.5" from the cat. With all of that said the LC1 is just blinking at me making want to burst into a epileptice seizure. The only person I would ever pay to work on my car is Kris and he doesn't have a welder, so this will be another over priced job that takes two hours at 80 an hour and it really only takes 30 minutes tops (measure cut weld).
