I'll just start off by saying that I already installed the 3g revised lifters, so its not that. My timing marks still line up every time, and even after I've reset tension on the belt, the same story; marks still line up. I do remember that when the ticking would start, (VERY audible from inside the car), that my oil pressure would drop down, and it would spike back up to normal when the ticking would stop after a bit of driving, and it always ticks when cold. Any thoughts?

sounds like your persure release valve on your oil pump is sticking and causeing a low presure situation even if the pump is new this could still happed . what wieght oil are you running? are you using your stock gauge or aftermarket? you could use some motor flush and see if that helps with possible clogs in the system

I'm running Mobil 10w30 in there. The motor hadn't be cranked since 2000 before I got it, and the guy that had it before me (employee of Pennzoil) only ran regular 10w30 in it, not synthetic, so maybe the time it had sat plus switching to synthetic is doing that? And I ran seafoam through my motor before the 3g lifter install, so unless there is a better engine cleaner I'm unaware of, I'm leaning more towards the different oils.
And to add to that, I'm only aware of a pressure release valve in the oil filter housing, so maybe that's whats causing my troubles?

CRC Motor Flush Engine Cleaner, 1 Qt .... run this in the motor for 5min before you change oil and it will make the crud release form the oil passages .. i do this 2 or 3 times on a car i buy it get the motor cleaned out for pervious owners neglect
