valve springs

hey guys just a quick quetsion, i was looking at a talon awd tsi with bad valve springs. the car is in great shape and has 80K on it. the price isnt bad at all but i was wondering how much it would cost me to replace the valvesprings and seals? if anyone knows something just let me know.

Whats wrong with the valve springs? Are you sure it doesn't need to valve seals or guides?

Assuming you can do the removal/installation of the head and related components yourself, a standard valve job should cost around $200.

the guy said the car smokes slighty when u 1st start it up. i dont really know how the how bad the springs actually are.

Most likely the springs are fine but the guides and seals need service.

how much would the guiges and seals cost to replace, and would it just be better to replace the springs while the head is apart? thanks

The springs rarely just go bad. Unless you plan on revving your motor sky high, the stock ones will probably last you the life of the car.

Smoking when you first start up the car is a sign of bad valve seals/guides. Take your head off and bring it to a machine shop to have a standart valve job done on it. I was charged $200 to take everything apart, clean everything up, get new valve seals, guides, etc and reinstall everything back in the head. Basically when I was done I had a new head.
