sooo recently ive pulled the head off my non running tsi due to bent valves to replace with a second rebuilt head, and ive been looking at them and just realized on the new head all the valves say 6T which i searched a bit and found it was stock valves. now the bad head i pulled off the car only has 6T on the intake valves, and nothing in the exhaust soo how do you know what they are? can anyone help me out just curious to know. pics below (2nd pic is the bad head)

just tryna see if they are better than stock?

I have myself never seen any “ stock” valve better than any other. Aftermarket any valve we have ever used had zero markings on the face of them, any stock valve can handle quite a lot. We have seen on last head we pulled the stock valve started to tulip but that was on a car making well north of 750hp and we used ferrea valves when put back together.

i just dont know why only the exhaust side would be after market on the bad head? the intake side has the 6T stamp and is there no way to know who made them? the head will be rebuilt later but just wanted to know and what is the reason for only doing the one side not the whole thing, and the head doesnt have any rebuilt stamps on it.

More than likely the valves have been bent previously. If most of the exhausts were bent and only a couple of the intakes a guy probably bought a full set of replacements for the exhaust valves and just tossed a couple extra stock intakes in that he had laying around.

Probably the reason is simply the intake valves were not needed to be replaced. Or maybe those valves were the only set the one who built the head had at the moment, etc etc.

Anyways it's kinda common that you find the stock valves and aftermarket stock replacement valves mixed in used heads. Nothing special, especially if it was a budget built. I have mixed them many times, too. You would probably get the point once you start to investigate pricing for one OEM valve. With the same money for one set of 16 Mitsubishi valves, you would probably be able to buy four sets of 16 valves if economy aftermarket stock replacement.

Not all shops put a stamp. Or maybe the previous owner did it personally.

hmmm that's all good to know and yes

hmm that's good to know and yes I've kinda started looking into things for the future and prices are pay to play but hopefully I can get to it this summer
