Valve Cover Metal Shavings

I haven't done it, but I would think that you would either take off the baffle or once you start to pierce the VC, turn it straight up to prevent excess shavings in the VC. Throughly wash it out then afterwards.

I've read about that too, but those were my suggestions for you. Either way of choosing to go about this feat, I would make sure you throughly clean it out multiple times. Could even as a company that does powdercoating as they have to deal with getting grit out of every crevise of the valve covers.

I do plan on doing with the valve cover off the car and I am going to get the holes drilled and than take it and have it cleaned just to be on safe side
Of course you would want to have it removed from the car when doing this work; I was referring to the shavings that could get caught behind the baffling, and later worked loose and released into the cylinder head, crankcase, oil pan, etc... Removing the baffle to ensure nothing is trapped is much better insurance than any type of cleaning or power washing. It's worth doing.

I sectioned out a piece of the baffle where I was going to put the fittings and it worked out fine. You can easily section it out with a dremel if you have a steady hand. I've had it done and have had no issues with it being sectioned out.
