Hey all, I was just wondering who is running the T04B V-Trim turbo out there. If you have the V-Trim installed then I have a few questions for you.

1. What supporting mods do you have? (255 or 190? 650cc, 850cc or 1000cc? etc)
2. What boost are you running with those mods?
3. How much horsepower are you putting down to the wheels? (Dynoed only, no butt dyno)
4. What is your quarter mile time?
5. What are the spool characteristics of the V-Trim?
6. Any comments about the turbo?

The reason I'm asking is I just bought one a while back but I haven't installed it yet and I would just like to know what I can expect. Also, I'd like to know what supporting mods are needed to produce YOUR varying results. Thanks for all your input.

Tom

I dont have one nor have i, but it was in my "possible turbo choice" list and from what i've heard from everyone that has one, uhhh, yea...if they had to do it over again, they wouldnt have bought it. I suppose, from what i gather from everyone else, its pretty similar to an evo 3 as far as power performance is concerned, but it lags more.

Although, ther was one at PRP a month back in a 1g, was runnin 12.40s at like 24psi or somethin...just my opinion, not very impressive.

Well that's a kick to the balls. :( Thanks for the input anyways. Tom.

No dyno or 1/4 mile times but I switched from the t04b v-trim to a 60-1 and saw no difference in spool times. If I had not bought it used on a really good deal, it would have been a waste. Fortunately, the deal I got was so good, I sold it for more than I payed for it, manifold, external wg, and downpipe.:D

I ran this turbo 2 years ago, but only for a few months. I'll try my best to remember all the details and answer your questions.

1. What supporting mods do you have? (255 or 190? 650cc, 850cc or 1000cc? etc)
Wally 255, 650's, AFPR, MAFT + Jeff O. chip + SAFC2, 3" turboback, 38mm Tial, FMIC, stock 7-bolt long-block

2. What boost are you running with those mods?
15 psi for low boost
22 psi for race

3. How much horsepower are you putting down to the wheels? (Dynoed only, no butt dyno)
I never dyno'd it with the V-trim. But I can say it felt a little less powerful than my B16G at the same boost level.

4. What is your quarter mile time?
Never ran it at the track because racing a full weight FWD sucks.

5. What are the spool characteristics of the V-Trim?
Spool was close to that of a 50-trim. I was seeing 20psi by around 3800-4000 RPM's.

6. Any comments about the turbo?
It was a surge monster. It finally ended dieing from compressor surge and I replaced it with a 50-trim. I wouldn't recommend this turbo to a DSMer. IMO, there are better choices for equal or less money,

I upgraded from a V-trim to a Holset HX-35. Let's just say my times went from 12.53@114MPH (tuned on the V-trim @24psi) to 11.60@121MPH (untuned on the Holset @25psi). My driving hasn't improved (still sucks) and the car has gone through little to no change in weight. The only difference is the fuel injectors and methanol injection.

The Holset cost me 1/3 the price and is 3 times better.

I don't want to bash the V-trim but you're better off with a 50-trim.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I guess I'll be buying an upgrade for the V-Trim next summer. :)
