just want to throw it out there, i dont use the forums as a go to source of information like i should. BUt now that ive gotten rid of my 95 gs about 2 yrs ago i picked up a 91 tsi. Been trying to build it but being as beat up mechanically wise as it was im seeming to run into problem after problem. but im fine with it, 20 years of beating stuffs bound to break.

One of the things ive been slowly working on recently was the Head Gasket on the car. ive got the head off, waiting to send it out to a machine shop. When i got the car i was also given a spair 6bolt motor torn apart. Ive been hearing that the 6bolt heads flow better than the 7bolts. My idea was to send the 6bolt to the machine shop instead of my 7 bolt head. But ive already got the head gasket for the 7bolt set up. is it possible to use the 6bolt head on a 7bolt bottom end. ( i ended up having to put a 7bolt from a 92 in ) .

Welcome to the world of popups. I would do some more reading on the 1g-2g head debate. I had a 1g head with a smim with a holset. Switched to a 2g head with an Evo 3 Intake and havent looked back. Run a search on a guy named Pneumo on here. He picked up alot switching to a 2g head.

I'll make it easy.

What kind of build is it..A basic rebuild, or forged internals and nice sice turbo..

The 1g head flows more, but the 7 bolt head has more velocity..So if the car is staying stock..And not going to be racing, then the 2g head might be a good idea..

IF your going to be high reving the engine, the 1g head might better suit your needs..

So you have tried both heads out on your own car? Got a link with flow bench data?
Not tryin to be an Ass or anything. But, If you are goin to give advice, at least back it up with some proof. Don't regurgitate what a few uninformed people have said.

Thanks, im reading up on kiggly right now. As for the 2g stuff, the 7bolt is a 1g one from a 92. Im not building it up far from everyones normal 3" exhaust, intake, FMIC using a MAFT. the next thing i was somewhat wondering about besides the head issue. A friend of mine has a set of Webcamshafts a 256/272 combo drops right in no, no valve job required. As of right now, im running it stock ecu with a MAFT. would dropping in those cams among the other mods ive got be a little much for it to handle? debating to wait till i get the wideband and dsmlink to drop em in or would it be a safe gamble being as there not so aggressive.
