Does anyone know whether or not you can use the DSM link usb cable with TunerStein? I've been told it works with Jackal, though.

This is the cable I'm talking about

ECMTuning, Inc.

I want to use Jackal, however until I get all the required sensors and what not I want to have the option of login my 91 TSI with TunerStein so that I can get MAF readings as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is another thread on here on that. I do believe you can do it. Even though it says you cant I do believe you can. I personally use the palm data logging setup a null modem connector I made and a Keyspan usb to serial.

It says you cant use with any other software.

Doesn't mean you can't.

But maybe they are trying to steer people away from buying them thinking they can just reprogram there car(like a flash cable with stock Ecu) with just there cable or Who knows the motive behind the disclaimer... .

Ordering notes: These cables are provided as replacements for lost or stolen V3 ECMLink cables ONLY. Do NOT order this cable as a replacement to a lost or stolen V1 or V2 ECMLink cable. It will NOT work and we do NOT want to deal with returns just because you can't read.

Order this cable ONLY if you have lost your ECMLink V3 cable and need a replacement.

I know it works with Tunerpro RT with a custom ADX file and Mmcd in a palm Emulator along with a few other logging programs... . As I've tested it before.

This may be the post your referring to OP Post 13

I've contacted ecm tuning and they said they do not support the use of their datalogging cable with anything other than their products. They were also unaware that TunerStein was also made for laptop use.

However I was told by someone else that they had tested the usb cable with Jackal and it did work for them, but I have to find out if it works with TunerStein. I was just curious to see if anyone had used this particular usb cable with TunerStein.

I think perhaps ECM just checks their cable with their own products so they cant really verify that it works with other software.

Well I'm looking into getting the Jackal but thats for SD, however it does log but wont log any MAF readings from what I understand. Until I get all the necessary parts to do the conversion I want to run TunerStein which is made for MAF.

Yes Im aware of this...

Im just wondering why you don't just use something like MMCD.

If I have any free time sometime soon... .

I think I might do a write up, On using laptop logging software an setting different programs up. As this has been getting brought up more an more and there's not a lot on the topic... Definitely a better and cheaper option over all the old Palms.

I got mine from a buddy, same thing i believe i got it years ago works just fine shows everything my logger was supposed to log. I never knew of another mmcd.

Not sure where any links are maybe I can host them somewhere or upload a few here so the links stay good....

EDIT:
Tried to upload a couple copies of different versions

But,
Guess unless someone changes it so you can Upload Zip files or PRC's to the board(I know when v3link came out, I mentioned EDA and ECM file being added to the list of files. So maybe a Mod or Luda can do this)

I'll just have to host them somewhere if not...

Created by the same guy who wrote Jackal.

Like it says on the site, written by Dmitry Yurtaev. Past version 1.5b Clinton Battersby wrote or integrated all additions except for the 1.71 version Andrew Shinn did as a branch of 1.6F.

Nick Saunders wrote the SD mod to the factory E931 used in Jackal. Curtis Hacker is responsible for the Java GUI that is Jackal.
