ok here's my problem. I swapped out my rear speakers today in my 92 Laser and somehow in doing so I must've clipped something because coming from the panel near the bottom is a constant ticking noise (even when my door is shut) and my battery is run down. I had to get a jump to come back from the ball game at school and by the time I got home when I shut my car off the battery was too dead to move the automatic seat belt forward. I literally pulled in, shut off the car, and opened my door and everything was dead as soon as I turned the key off. All I did to it today was swap my speakers and I'm not sure how that could cause this. If anybody can help me I'd GREATLY appreciate it and hopefully I can figure something out so that I can make it to school tmrw...looks like another night I won't get to bed until after 12 :toobad:

no I don't think it would be my alternator or battery because I drove it home on a 15minute drive with my headlights on and it drove home ok...I say ok cus I made it home...but it would've just died if my alternator was bad because the battery wouldn't have had power to run everything off a nearly dead battery...it's something in the panel that has apparently come unconnected or possibly cut whenever I replaced the plastic panel...but it didn't do it until after I left...the car sat for about 3hrs total after finishing the panel and it started fine after the ball game but I stopped at a friend's house and when I came back out it was dead. So I must be drawing all my battery power out with whatever is making the clicking noise...kinda like if it's throwing a relay on and off.

Check to make sure that there aren't any loose cables making false contact against the car. If the problem still occurs, get your battery checked in, if its good, then go on to the next which would be your alternator giving out. Let me know how it goes.

Ok thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna go ahead and check to make sure I didn't knock anything loose somehow and if not I'll go on to battery(which I think it is) and after that if the battery is ok then I'll move on to the Alternator :sosad:

Thanks a TON! luv2rallye. I went out and decided to check for shorts first before shelling out for a battery. I decided to start with my speakers first and idk why but for some reason I opened the hatch to check my amp and sure enough my positive terminal had come undone and had been shorting out on the metal. Saved me a bunch of money and also a bunch of time. I had it fixed in about a minute this morning. :tease: (at myself) ROFLROFL
