I have a 1998 Eagle Talon Es-i. Does anybody know of a source that may provide a higher performance, or more heavy duty set up upper ball joints. I have just installed my second set and i imagine they will be good for about 6 months. Does anybody know if there is a way to replace just the ball joint instead of the entire upper control arm. It gets rather expensive at over $100 per control arm. Also, napa told me that they could order just a replacement ball joint but I can not figure out how it would be installed. Or how the old one would be removed. :talon:

I have never had any of my balljoints fail, so I have not inspected their design. If it is a conventional cup and ball, a ball-joint press to install it. (or my way: ball in freezer, torch the cup, install with mallet)

If you start hearing a "squeaking" sound when you turn the steering wheel...replace the ball joints ASAP!

Just do a search on this site: ball joint

Regards

As far as i know-- you cannot just replace the balljoint, you need to to the entire control arm. You should not have gone through that many in this short of a time. Im wondering if they were done right the last time?
