Hey guys im doing a side job on a guys car. he called me up saying his 96 N/T eclipse was running really bad. So i checked it out and did a compression test and sure enought cylinder number 4 had no compression at all. So i take off the valve cover and notice one of the roller rockers was just laying in the head so right away i new it had just 1 valve bent....

So i got the head off the other night and look what i found. It had sucked up through the intake and and went down threw the intake manifold.
Does anybody know what this piece is that caused a valve to bent?

it looks like whats left of a small cleaning brush, sorta like one used for cleaning a rifle barrel. Or oil passages.
has the head or intake or TB been off recently? maybe some one was trying to clean something and it got left in there??

I've seen nut's, bolts, rubber pieces, washers, but never whatever the heck that is. On 3000gt's it's very common for people to drop the upper manifold bolt washer into the lower manifold. On dsm's i've never really seen any parts dropped into the manifold, just 475,957,385,947 timing belt failures.

I was thinking the same thing.
Looks like a tool, not a car part.

Sometimes when doctors operate on someone, they accidentally leave a sponge in the person... this is kinda the same idea ;)

Thanks guys for the help. This is the whole reason i started this thread. I have never seen this object or anything like this in my life and i have alot of tools and stuff. This whole this was in a valve chamber ha ha. It was very clear the some how or anything someone left this in the cold air intake and was sucked up through the throttle body down through the intake manifold and landed in the closest valve to the throttle body.

Some kind of tool with a removable head, most likely supposed to be chucked up in a drill. I'm leaning in the replaceable head hone direction. But that is quite weird... I'd be curious as to what work was done recently to the car.

The day before this happend the guy had it a shop. They installed new clutch cables and shifter and charge him 400$ The day after he got it out of the shop is when this all happened!!
