Uninstalling Alarm?

What is involved in removing a car alarm? When I bought my Talon it came with some old alarm installed. I think it's called an Excalibur? It's crap. To arm and disarm it you push the button above the fog light button on the dash. No keyfob, which is pointless. I wouldn't have a problem with it but it likes to randomly not let my car start even when it's disarmed. I leave it disarmed because the only way to shut it off when it goes off is to put the key in and turn the car on. But what's weird is like today, it was disarmed like normal, and I got in my car to go somewhere and it wouldn't start. And it was acting like the battery was almost dead and The alarm was going off but it was really faint. I had to Pull the key out and arm it to be able to start my car. It did this once before but the opposite, i had it armed and didn't know it for a while and it did the same thing but I had to disarm it instead to start it. It's almost like it has a mind of its own and the position of the button on the dash (pushed in or out) changes which way is armed or disarmed. And before when the button pushed in was armed, it would actually arm the system after 30 seconds of the car sitting automatically. Now it doesn't.

So basically I'm getting sick of it. I truly think it has a mind of its own and would like to get rid of it entirely. So what is involved? Just rip it out from under the dash? Or is it more complicated than that?

I had the same problem when I bought my car. Somebody put an aftermarket alarm on top of my stock one. It was crap and it was draining my battery. So I just traced the bridging wires, cut them carefully and pulled the unit out.
Mine was not blocking the starter, just the power for the coil pack and it was not hard to get it done.

Take your time and trace each wire. It's immensely easier when auto-start isn't involved. Tape off the ends if you plan on putting your own alarm in otherwise remove as you please. MY 2g came with some budget alarm/autostart. It wasn't the end of the world but it certainly was a Saturday project to rip out the old alarm and install the new viper with all the extra goodies
