Alarm

Hi guys, I need some help. I don't know what my previous owner did to the factory alarm but it sure isn't working anymore. He didn't pass me any remote or anything.

1. I see an aftermarket alarm led at the middle console below the factory radio, and behind it the wires are cut off. No alarm modules whatsoever found.

2. When I lock my door using the key from the outside, I still see the green "security" light.

3. I've tested the alarm by lowering the window, lock the door(using key), stick my hand inside and then opening the interior door handle. Tried even with the hood and the hatch. I did and did not wait for the security light to go off. Nothing happens. My horn works btw so it has got to be somethign else.

Any ideas?

I've an aftermarket alarm lying around but i heard that those aftermarket alarms cause problems on 2gs.

I'm not going to try and do electrical work thru email, but start with the relays, fuses, and whether the factory horn's hooked up. The alarm horn is not the road horn. It lives under the battery and is about four times louder.

i have not found a close/local after market alarm system...i dont think i have one...or even if i do if it works how much did it cost you to buy that?

I noticed that you said that you did not wait for the security light to go off. If this is the case, then the factory alarm has not finnished arming. Wait for the light to go off then open a door!
