my 91 talon is still pretty stock other than the suspension, hacked air can and some vacuum re-routing but is it ok or a good idea to put on the turbo xs RFL BOV.:
talon:

There's no real reason to put it on... but it shouldn't do any harm, so long as you recirculate it just like the stock one.
If you're just trying to get the Riced & Curious BOV hiss, read the Newbie FAQ... we can't atmospheric vent our cars, due to how the stock air metering is set up, without replacing the MAS with a different arrangement (quite expensive, a hassle, and generally not worth it for something so ricey). And don't be fooled, even the 'adjustable dual port' crap will still make the car run badly, if ANY air is atmo-vented while still using the stock MAS.

Personally, I'd spend the money on something more worthwhile (actual boost gauge, MBC, Walbro 255HP and an AFPR), if you haven't bought the replacement BOV yet. If you just have one laying around, sure, toss it on.

ive been thinking about getting the gm maf and maf-t setup i just haven't got the money yet, but how would i go about re circulating that . i do want a little bit of that ricey bov noise but not a lot. my brother just got me this bov the other day and i want to see what it would do

um, last i checked the rfl is not able to re-circ, I dont see what the problem is. If you want your car to run like shit put it on. Read the ####ing FAQ'S! What more do you need? If you want a good functional BOC the re-circ, If you still dont understand then maybe you need a hon-duh ( i think 150 + bucks just to hear a blow off is alot) hell, paypal me 150 bucks and im make a tape.. hell a cd even of all th pshhhhhh sounds you want

thanks for the advice but keep the cd i haven't had this car long and the part was just given to me so i didnt know what it would do. im still trying to figure some of the things on this car out but i think im gonna give the bov to a friend of mine for his supra

The TurboXS Type-H-RFL BOV cannot be recirculated. Sell it on ebay and get a blow off valve like Greddy that you can recirculate.

To answer your question - it is a bad idea.

would i need an adapter kit for a greddy bov or can you buy one that fits on the stock flange

You can drill two new holes in your stock flange, and mount the Greedy to that. I'd recommend turning it so the new holes are NOT directly in from the stock holes, but instead will be covered by the 1G CBV flange if you ever have to go back to the old one (emissions inspection, or whatever). Just rotate the GReddy and punch/drill the new holes near the outside edges.

As I've said before, our cars don't hiss. They roar. Leave the Riced & Curious BS to the hon-duh kids.

Every car is different, on my 90 talon i ran the RFL w/o idle problems other than running really rich and shooting out black smoke between shifts

But we bolted it up to my brother's car and it barely ran it idle surged for about 15 seconds then it died

I suggest that if you want to vent to atmosphere to change you're mas, maybe a GM mas

you can either get the MAF-T set up or sell that one and buy a Greddy S or RS. The RS is the newer versionbut the S is still in stock at some places.
Either way would help and get you the nice BOV sound. the Greddy is pretty damn loud when it lets off at higher PSI, even recurculated.

I think though that you may get a good bang for your buck by going with the MAF-T. that way you can set it up blow thru if you want the sound but more importantly you'll get extra air by having a less restrictive stock Mas. More air more power. The 2G guys don't need this at all as their MAS is a better, more flowing desighn that handles more power. and you can used the Turbo XS, thou you will need a flange i think

Maintenance first. Boost gauge second. Or your DSM will fall in the stereotype of unreliable. Then you will give up on it and say the DSM is shit when the main problem was the owner to begin with.

Its a pretty pricey project to go blow through on your car. MAF + MAFT + Piping to install will probably run you 400+ dollars. What you should do is get a Greddy or other BOV you can re-circ and then get a nice hard pipe intake with re-circ tube and good filter. This will allow you to get the best of both worlds. You will be able to hear your BOV sound enough and you dont have any of the issues that go with dropping to atmosphere. I hear you can pick up a Ebay intake pretty cheap that will do the job.

Does it make your car faster? NO.

That means it's not a good idea.
