Can i run wires from my battery to the toggle switch in my interior and then from the switch to the fan? WHich wires on the fan do i run those wires into? The ones that go to the center of the fan body or the ones that go to the sensor? And does my wiring need to have a fuse?

Thank you

Kevin D.

first off, why do you want to do that? are they not turning on when they are supposed to be? check the fan control relay, fuses, and sensor before you do the following

if you are wiring a switch in the cockpit, then put a fuse in the wire... I made the mistake of not doing that one time doing EXACTLY what you are doing to my super beast Cavalier 2.2 (RIP)... cost me a new ecu and A LOT of rewiring....

take a volt meter to the plugs that go into the fan, NOT THE SENSOR.... find out which wire is hot when the fan is supposed to be on... Cut that wire and wire it to a hot 12v wire THAT SWITCHES ON AND OFF WITH THE IGNITION.... put the switch in between that... like this

(fan)-----switch----fuse----hot 12v (when ign is on)

If you do not wire it up to a switchable wire that is hooked to the ignition switch then when you turn the car off the fan will not shut off.... which is annoying as hell when you go to start your car after a movie and you have a dead battery.....

there are 2 fans and 2 plugs on my 1g that supply switched power from the relay.... you could probably just link those together and run them at the same time....

PS... SOLDER AND PROTECT YOUR WIRES!!!! DO NOT LET THEM GROUND OUT!!!
POWER+ELECTRICAL WET SPOT=FIRE!!

Will it still work even if i don't have any of my AC stuff like the fan and compressor?

if you wire it like I said, it wont matter what is on... it will be controlled by you and the ignition switch

Yeah awesome. Thanks for the AC tip before i went and wired in a switch. My last problem with the car now is the foglights. They refuse to come on. The have brand new bulbs and the relay is fine. Any ideas? The push button switches for the pop up lights and the AC aren't the same are they?

check your wiring... do you have continuity from the switch all the way to the light? sounds like there is a break in the wiring somewhere.... time to bust out the VO meter and get dirty

Now when I press that AC button it turns green but my rad fan won't come on. What fuse should I check or should I check something else. It did this once before but I don't remember how I got it to work again.

under the hood... it might be a fuse or a relay.... im not sure which fuse is the right one... the relay should be labeled under the hood...

Boooo @ me. I forgot to mention the A/C switch :sosad: That one has saved me a million times!

The only benefit to the link I showed was the fact that you can leave the fan running if the motor is not. Not a bad idea if you're at the track on a hot day sitting in staging lanes or right after making a hard run :rocks:

Edit: (just read your fan isn't coming on anymore); Does the radiator fan *ever* come on now? There should be some big fuses up on the pos terminal or close to it. One of them will be labeled "Fan" or "Cool" or something obvious like that, check that one, also check the plug right by the fan. If it keeps blowing, the fan motor is probably shorted (been there, done that :[ )
