are they both sapose to come at the same time all the time?

how long can i drive the car till there is trouble if when i drive it aroound for an hr or so temp is normal?

can anyone recomend some replacement fans that arent millions of dollars?

It's normal. Turn your AC switch ON, and then see if they both kick in. That'll show you whether they're working or not. Otherwise, if only one is turning on during normal driving, there shouldn't be a problem.

if you want them to run together you can jump out the ac fan relay. both fans will turn on when you hit that magic temperature

I just had my radiator replaced, when I was talking with the mechanic he said that one fan is always on and the second comes on when the car gets hot. Seems logical..I never considered it or thought about it before..

Yeh, he's mistaken, or at least mistaken with DSMs. I don't know of cars that have an electric fan running constantly unless they're also throttling them.

I've never seen a car that always have a Radiator fan on.

You're main fan will come on to cool it off when its at operating temps and the A/C Fan will come on when the A/C is turned on.

:confused:mishimoto fans

i got my fans and shroud for my 2g and put them in. i wired up the 2 positive wires to the 1 positive wire provided from mishimoto and the same with the negative ones on the driver's side in front of the turbo. i turn my A/C on and the one turns on, and when the coolant gets to around 215-220 degrees it turns on also, i was stoked now to the passenger side.

i did the same thing with the passenger side and i have not gotten it to turn on at all.

am i just being dumb and overlooking something obvious?

This isn't a good thread to post your question in. If you can't find anything about wiring the fans then post a new thread.
but for future reads on this thread, the main fan comes on at 177 degrees, and the 2nd fan will come on 10 degrees later.

I believe this is only relevant in the case of the stock fan, which can run at 3 different speeds. The aftermarket slim fans are either on or off.

^Who gives a shit. How is that relevant?
Don't just go around trying to be right all the time, no one was asking a question about slim fans. the entire thread was pointed towards a misunderstanding of the stock fans.

I was referring to GST-H's post, which stated he was using Mishimoto fans, not stock ones. Since his post is from 2010 I felt it was more relevant to reply to his post than to one from 2004. :thumb:
