Ok, for a long time now, my radiator fan will not turn on automatically and the car would start to over heat. For this time, I have been using the A/C button to turn both the A/C fan on as well as the radiator fan.

The relay is fine.

I tried connecting the 2 pins in the harnass/plug for the radiator fan switch(bottom of radiator, driver side) with a paperclip and when I did, the fan would turn on. So I figure the switch is bad.

Today in class, I change the thermostat and put in a new switch that I got from Tony's work. I turn the car on, let it get to normal operation temperature (in this case exactly half way on stock temp gauge) and the fan still isnt turning on. I let it idle there for a while watching that it doesnt go past half way on the gauge. The needle still points strait up, but the fan still doesnt turn on.

Does anyone have any idea why the fan isnt turning on automatically? This is driving me nuts.

I put a wire on terminal 1, one on terminal 3, insert the relay, and the engine cooling fan turns on w/o me even touching them. I touch them and it stays on....? It seems pretty simple...does it need power? The A/C fan doesn't kick on at all regardless
