A friend wants to sell me a .63ar turbonetics t3 t4 turbo for a really cheap price. He says it does have shaft play or may need a new center cartridge. All in all its going to need a rebuild. I'm not too knowledgeable on turbos... so is it worth it rebuilding a blown turbo? or just trashing it? i know its going to be around 300-400 dollars for a rebuild so ill still be saving money rather than buying a new one. Any information will help. It is going on my 99' gst that im doing a full build on.

Thank you.

Well first, how cheap is REALLY cheap? Rebuilding turbos is not really rocket science as much as it is patience, and being careful. Check the fins, nicked, cracked, bent? Does it spin freely? How much shaft play? In and out? Side to side?

Also, rebuild kits can vary in price, know the model of your turbo?
