hey how you guys doing well I just recently purchased a 95 tsi and I've been sitting down in front of the computer all this time reading about your guys turbo upgrades but how come you guys just don't get a t3/t4 and don't worry about maxing out your turbo. now don't get me wrong i'm not trying to talk bad or anything. I owned a 95 prelude and had a t3/t4 and i was fine. now i know that honda and dsm are different so that is why i'm trying to learn anything and everything from dsm's. now i know that to get a t3/t4 you need to get a different manifold redo your down pipe. maybe get a ext wastegate some injectors and a afc just for starters. the only thing that could think of is that maybe the extra $200 or $300 difference is what is stoping most people from going that route. but maybe there is something different about this cars that i don't know.

The reason most people on here don't go full T3/T4 is because most of the vendors make "hybrid" turbos that are a T3/T4, but have a Mitsubishi exhaust housing and mount to the stock manifold. Look here http://slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=PHPSESSID=6bd45d2cb9766dd9bb2bec06de1a9d82&cat=1264 It's just easier to buy one that will mount right up instead of buying a new manifold too. It's harder to find a T3/T4 manifold too.

The reason why i was asking is because I Purchase my last set up for my prelude of mjturboshop.com and I was talking to them about my tsi and they said that they could get me the manifold for 200 and the turbot3/t4 for $400 so i don't think that is a bad price , and well my last turbo a bougth from them never went out on me. what do you think about those prices

Prices sound good. But you'd have to get the specs on the turbo, and find out what kind of manifold it is. It could be a SSAUTOCHROME one that's not worth $10. Ask them some specifics on the products and then ask around or do some searching.

ok well the turbo is a "t3/t04b with a 62 ext waste gate housing 70 ar compressor size with an H trim compressor wheel. The manifold is a stainless steel tubular manifold with equal length runners". those are the numbers that they gave me.

ok well the turbo is a garrett rubuild with a 6 month warranty just like my old one.
and the manifold is a xo2racing brand. and i think that is the same one that he sold me last time for my prelude application.

almost forgot they also quoted me for a front mount kit with piping installed for $600
he said that the piping was custom made short route made out of u bends, that were welded so i would use clamps and hoses only for the turbo outlet, the two intercooler ends,
and i think that was it. and he said that they were going to be 2.5". and I think the intercooler was going to be 24x12x3.

You need to get flow numbers. Intercoolers and turbos....

I could make you an intercooler 24x12x3, and charge you 500 bucks.... but it won't flow for anything. Your conventional honda thinking is over :)

You can't just bolt things on to these cars and go fast. These are tuner cars. It's all about air and fuel. You're on the right track though, just keep reading :thumb:

so...yea that doesn't make much sense. an h22 turbo setup definitely qualifies as a "tuner car", still trying to figure out your jab at "conventional honda thinking", and any car trying to make good power is all about air and fuel. anyway...

i think dealing with compressor maps is a pretty straight-shot approach. chances are the turbos most people are using have already been matched up, but you definitely get some satisfaction out of doing it yourself. i did a writeup on another forum about how to do it, but you can't view it without logging in...and i doubt most people on this forum are members of AccordinglyDone. :thumb:

if there's any stereotype against honda owners specifically that i actually agree with, it's using too big of a turbo. for whatever reason DSM owners don't fall in; mostly stick with bigger mitsu turbos or the red/green setups. props to the community for that.

For those prices it's worth a shot. If you don't like the stuff you can always sell it and get something better. But if you have the money "Do it right, do it once".

PM me if you want. We'll go over what you have, what you want, and everything in between that i have knowledge on. After that you can look thru the archives for more exact thread of what you want instead of asking vague newb questions to the whole community. Shoot me a PM and we'll talk...........

you have a long road ahead of you. :thumb:
