Turbo seals are bad , is this bad for the engine?

I'm looking at buying a gsx with a bad turbo, I know the seals are leaking so its probably smoking, I don't know for sure if its smoking I have not seen it yet. But I want to know if that is bad on the engine at all if it was burning the oil and smoking and what not. It is at a good price but i just don't want to buy a car and have it crap out just like that. So please any positive input will be appreciated .

I'm hoping that you're asking if you can drive the car home after purchasing it, where you'll install a new turbo and everything will be kosher. You're retarded if you're planning on running the car like that for an extended period of time after you buy it.

You're basically dumping oil into the exhaust system, which tends to ruin o2 sensor and plug catalytic converters if ignored.

consider the worst case scenario and honestly assess your ability to:
1) afford to be without the car while it is being repaired, and more importantly
2) pay for the cost to properly repair it and still have $ for other maintenance issues that come with an 11-18 year old car

thats exactly what I mean, it comes with a new turbo it just needs to be put on.

why not work something out with the seller for you to come and help to swap the turbo and while there, have him assist you with dialing it in? would be a good opportunity to learn something and establisha relationship with someone really familiar with the car. more importantly, someone who is aware of the mose recent changes done to it.
