turbo rebuild please help me prove this guy wrong member 91-gsx

hey guys this guy 91-gsx offered me 40 bucks shipped for a a genuine mhi 16g turbo , even tho it needs a minor rebuild its still in very good shape and hes mad that i told him pretty much to go f*** him self cause it would cost over half that just to ship it , and hes claiming it will cost AT LEAST $180 for the rebuild ,i told him if hes paying more then 180 for a 16g rebuild hes getting ripped off and he insisted that i start a thread to prove him wrong i Paid $110 to have my turbo rebuilt but a very reputable company, hes been arguing with me for over a week now , and its time to shut down this cocky bastard

I think he is referring to a freelancer ad on here charging $180 for a trubo rebuild. which seems like a fair price to me, consicering the services he offers for that price.

I would go maybe $150 at the lowest but shipping would cost him extra. Rebuild for my old 16g was roughly $125 with a new compressor wheel and balanced.

This thread is pointless, and will probably be locked soon. These things need to be in PM form not a thread made to see who is right and wrong. I personally would'nt buy something when a person says minor rebuild. It works or it does'nt, no minor or major.

If you're honest about the 16g just needing a minor rebuilt, $40 is obviously under priced. I'd say not under $100 + s&h ...Just my 0.2¢

yes i was selling a genuine mhi 16 g and member 91-gsx offered me 40 shipped then got mad when i told him no any one interest in finding out more i can send all messages between the member and i as well as him calling me names and profanity and he insisted that i post a thread cause he was so right , yet he wouldnt post one , ( hes so right that he couldnt post one right ) but its good that everyone can see how this member is , as well as use caution when dealing with him

well i know he rebuilt turbos by himself so maybe he was trying to resale it and gain some profit(nothing wrong) but insulting you for not selling him the turbo at that price that's bad.

hes probably the same guy thats been low-balling me very bad. To the point of where just the shipping of all the items he wanted for $30 shipped, the shipping was like $27 something. Im like wtf, read my ad. It says Shipping not icluded in pricing?? Can people read?

I think whoever is doing your rebuilds must like to work for free. Something's not computing here- a Genuine MHI parts kit costs over $100, not including replacement of any wheels....that's just the general wear items. You can find parts kits as low as $40, but we all know where those come from. Hell a Genuine Big 16G compressor costs $99, so obviously there are corners being cut somewhere.

My pricing for parts, labor, and for a replacement compressor would total just shy of $200. Any less and I'm not even going to open the door to the shop because it's not worth my time. I'd literally rather sit on the toilet for the three hours it would take me to rebuild the turbo...at least there's a chance something positive would happen.

If someone told me that after I made an offer (no matter how unrealistic), I may take it the wrong way also. A simple "Sorry, but I can't sell it for less than xxx" would probably have sufficed.

Actually, if the turbo pictured in the ad is the one you're selling, it appears to be a 14B and NOT a Small 16G. If that's the case....14B, locked up, no actuator; yep, $40 shipped sounds about right.
