Turbo rebuild holset hx35

Rebuilding a holset hx35 for my gsx. My compressor housing air inlet is chipped!? Curious how this happened? ( assuming it was destroyed and rebuilt but I didn’t know a turbo could throw metal towards the air intake? ). It also has thinner walls on the damaged side Deciding if I should buy a new compressor housing, fix this one with a weld, or just run it as it is. Figure as long as the air intake tubing covers the chip and there’s no gap I should be good?

Someone likely dropped it or dropped something on it, shouldn’t hurt to use it like that.

Considering what a qualified welder can do with dinged boat props that shouldn't pose much of a problem to repair.
