PS :::

I was reading Cucumbers "2g 14b swap" thing or whatever and he said he didnt use a 1g Jpipe in the end, anyone know what he subbed for it? and also, i keep hearing people say they used 2g lines for water and oil???

Can someone please straighten all this crap out so i know what REALLY needs to be done ect :) thanks

hey i was wondering since im porting my exhaust manny and o2 housing if i should port my t25 turbo. im getting a 50 trim turbo soon but just for the meantime. would it even make a difference in power???

You should at least gasket match the inlet to the manifold and oulet to the o2 housing.

i ported the crap outta my 14b and notice a big diff on this turbo has 215,000 miles on it an no shaft play got it for free since my old 130,000 mile one eat it self to death..LOL but on a t 25 if ya have a free afternoon why not just make sure ya where a mask other wise metal doesn't taste good and make sure ya take your time and and make it smooth best way i found is use the really coarse dremal drum sanding wheels then as you get rid off the materail ya don't want go the the fine grit then to a glass style then should be goo to go

Ya since you've got it all apart might as well, I noticed a diference. I got rid of the step on the turbine inlet and made it all smoth, then I ported around the wg exit and the turbine wheel exit. You get abit better flow a the top end but where it makes a bigger difference is in spool up, with my mods I used to see 16 psi by 2400-2500 rpms. :thumb:

You will notice the most difference from simply port matching the manifold to turbo and turbo to o2 flanges. Just use the gasket as a template.

How does porting a turbo change it's flowmap?
Is it always a good thing? I'm rebuilding a 14B which is a good time to port it but don't know if it's worth it.
What needs porting?

Porting the turbo does not increase its airflow but it will improve its spool up time , but clipping the turbine wheel will improve the top end flow.

If you do a port and a clip, you can increase the top end without sacrificing spool up.

What would clipping a 14B do? is it worth it? what kind of wants do you have to have to consider this?

Okay, I'm swapping a 14b this weekend and started on my porting. After doing a lot of searches, I want to make sure I don't screw up so I need to ask some questions.
1) On the exhaust housing turbine outlet, is it worth it to grind anything away? Should I go in 1 inch or as far as I can reach from the O2 housing side, not where the wheel sits?
2) Should I make the exhaust housing inlet as big as I can?
3) Do I need to match the exhaust manifold inlet the exact same size as i port the turbo exhaust housing inlet?
4) How big should i port the wastegate chamber? Can i go almost out to the exhaust outlet side with porting? And what exactly do they mean with porting the walls of the wastegate chamber so the air flows better? Thanks for any input, closeup pics would be nice, the ones on VFAQ are not clear enough.

On the turbine housing you want to port out the wastegate hole if you are worried about boost creep(you probably should be), port out the area around the hole, if you really want to go the extra mile you can smooth uot the hole area in there(doesn't really help to much but nothing can really hurt right? On the comp housing housing you want to port the out the outlet to where it attaches to your jpipe.

Which is the most important part to port on a turbo housing? The flapper hole on my turbo hasn't been ported although everything alse has. Is it important to port this hole or can I just leave it the way it is and still avoid boost creep?

Is it a t25? I would recommend porting out the wastegate as well, esp. living Nebraska this time of year. The colder out, the more air you're going to flow; at least that's what I've noticed. I had an evo 16g on my 1st talon, ported, and I couldn't hold boost if my life depended on it.

It's a 16g. The problem is that even if I would port the hole I couldn't really get into it since I don't have the proper tools for porting.

Every turbo is different. If you already have it bolted up, drive it around and see how it works. Just monitor your boost gauge, hopefully after market, and if the problem occurs you should look into getting it done. Most shops are able to do it, and certain sites sell larger flappers for your situation if you were to port out. Think ahead, porting the wastegate is usually easier than replacing a blown head gasket.

Post a picture if you can looking down the turbine housing from the ex manifold's point of view. Oldman and some of the others here can tell you if you are on the right track. To eliminate creep it is most important to have the entry to the flapper unshrouded.
