2G Turbo oil feed location on 6 bolt OFH?

I need to know were to get the oil feed for a 16g on a full 6 bolt

I was told to get from the upper bolt on the oil pump, not from the head, but the bolt on the oil pump is kinda messed up and i cant get the bolt out.

Any other locations? Or ideas?
 
If you got it stripped than you probably won't get it out. I usually use a propane torch and heat up the aluminum around the plug (be careful to not burn anything with the torch) than it will come right out. There is nothing wrong with feeding from the head either.
 
16G's should be fed from the head. The MHI cartridge wants 42-48psi of oil pressure MAX, and the filter housing can easily double this amount...putting the turbo in jeopardy of suffering an oil-related failure.
 
A 3/8" pipe plug.

Something a 2G owner needs to consider when switching to a head feed is there's a good chance the plug on the corner of the head has never been removed....so the oil galley there at the front of the head has surely collected some major trash in 12-16 years of operation. Be sure to flush the hole quite well before sourcing your turbo there.
 
Its best to feed journal bearing turbos like the 16g from the OFH. BB turbos feed from the head.
 
Its best to research and understand the oiling requirements for any turbo you're about to install, then source the oil feed per the manufacturer's pressure requirements as there is no "rule of thumb" when it comes to proper turbocharger oiling.

Don't most oil feed kits have some sort of oil pressure reducer in them?? One of the AN fittings of mine seemed to have very limited flow capabilities.
 
Oil "Restrictors" do not lower the pressure of oil flowing through the line, but instead limit the flow, which in turn..raises the pressure on the opposite side of that restrictor(Think of putting your finger over the tip of a hose).
 
Strange that restrictor users who check pressure at the turbo before and after installing a restrictor would see a drop in pressure then.

Think of p/v=p/v. High Pressure and high volume/flow before the restrictor. 100psi and 100cc/min. If the restrictor cuts the flow in half, you have 50cc/min flow. So You get the equation. 100/100=p/50
So p=(100*50)/100. So pressure after the resteictor is 50psi
 
I believe DSMDEMON93 is thinking the restrictor will basically raise the line pressure by restricting the size of the orifice, much like the principle of operation on a pressure washer.

However, our oil pumps are not like the pump on a pressure washer...if you restrict the flow and increase the pressure in the line before the restrictor, it's simply going to go elsewhere or dump back into the pan through the pressure relief valve; the end result will be less pressure after the restrictor.

Been feeding my 14b off the head for year now with no issue i would recommend from the head isnt the oil pressure more steady as well?

No you get instant oil pressure at the OFH as well as more consistant pressure as thats were all the pressure starts right at the OFH as thats were it is regulated. You also get slightly cooler oil from the OFH as the oil doesnt have to travel all the way up the block threw the head then to the turbo..
