I have a 1995 talon tsi awd that i got an when i look at the turbo to try an see what was on it..There was no stamped numbers on the turbo. Like For example ( TD05H ) that is on alot of turbos..But Mine is blank with no stamped number for identification..Has anybody ran into this problem before. If so what kinda turbo is it??? an another question i have is if the turbo has (TD05H) on the turbo cover. does that mean it is a 14b ??? thanks please help i need to know what kind of turbo i have on my car. And if i should change it to the one i have on my shop self with TD05H on the cover...thanks fellow DSMers

It's is more than likely a Garret t25 and yes you should replace it with your tdo5h if you could post a picture or something so I could see it I would confirm

i will post a pic of it tomorrow but its still on my car..does that matter???...i just know there is no numbers its blank..an i should not change it if its a t25...i thought an heard 14b are better turbo's.....i will get the best pic i can of it

No. MHI used the TDO5 casting on 16g's and small 20g's also. Post a picture of the "blank" turbo.

what is MHI ...an have u heard or ever seen a blank turbo on a dsm??

would my TD05H bolt right on with no problems..???:hmm:

14bs/16gs are bigger than t-25s, better that's up to you. So if the turbo you have turns out to be a 14b or a 16g it can be a nice upgrade from your "blank" turbo (if it's a stock t-25). But post a picture because I can't recall how a t-25 even look likes anymore :p

BTW MHI means Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Lol dude just being your car to my place I'll get you set in the right direction LOL to bad you live in michigan

Could be a ebay special or the owner could have shaved and polished the compressor housing.

ok but what would make them better if they are more boost?spool faster or slower?..an i thought 16g's have duoble fins..an would this 14b i have on the shelf bolt right on with no problem?? an its hard to post a pic ### its on my car.

If you cant get a picture, its worthless to ask what it is. There is honestly no way of telling if we cant see it. Sounds like ebay to me.

well just took of the intake to the turbo an it does have double fins with the number on the side says TD05 turbo...so is that a small 16'g ???.....so a small 16'g is better then a 14b??? if so or if not what is the difference between them..More boost? spools faster??? ..should i keep the 16'g on the car an just get rid of the 14b to my friend..or should i put the 14b on ????

the model number on turbo that is blank is MZ0602259 ??? cant find anything on that model number....wtf

Lol...apperently you don't understand what shaved means. When someone shaves the cover it gets polished after...same as a valve cover. There are no lines or scratches if its done right its smooth. As for your part number...if it was a mitsu is would start with a MD. Sounds like you have a pos eBay turbo...I don't get why you can't just post a pic. You would have had a snswer 10 posts ago...instead of you giving vague descriptions TAKE A PICTURE

jeez apperently u dont understand what i said it looks the same all over..it was NOT shaved....but theres a picture .....

Looks to be an eBay turbo, due to the plaque on the compressor. Mhi don't have that.

Looks like an ebay 16g..It should say dsm evo turbocharger above that bolt there..If it was a real mits turbo it would not say turbocharger on it..Which it don't because it's shaved, but I can tell you from experiance it looks like an ebay 16g..

so in that case would my 14b TD05H be better then this ebay 16g??? is the ebay 16g a shit turbo ???..is this turbo a big or small 16'g ???

what is that??? Eghey FTL ???

No need for attitude newbie...Funny, the minute you post a pic you get a answer...apperently you dont get a pic is necessary sometimes  Eghay means ebay...its crap..will most likely blow apart at any given time. Yes your 14b is better than that. If its in good shape, switch it asap.
FTL is a internet acryninm meaning "for the loss"

A 16g is a better turbo than a 14b. It simply flows more air. Even if it is an Ebay turbo run it until you get tired of it and upgrade. Atleast you don't have to ssend money on upgrading it now. Focus on the fuel system and tuning mods now.

You should learn what you are talking about before giving advice. A ebay 16g is NOT better than a 14b. Just because you are foolish enough to put one on your car, does not mean it "flows better".Those turbos blow..period. They come apart constantly and most do not flow anywhere near what a real 16g does. Seriously man....why do you think they cost half of what a real one does :toobad: Do some research before giving ill advice to a unknowing person...cause clearly you have no knowledge on the subject.

Yeah its all good. You really should take off that pos and put the 14b on. Buy a real 16g. Dont believe me? Search "ebay turbo" and let me know if you think its a good idea. Dont take advice from the noob with 12 posts.

ok so for this ebay 16g that is on my car when i got the car...it is no good an i should deff swich with my 14b i have.. sorry but i dont know to much about turbos..so all in all the 14b i have is better?? will it spool faster?? push the same boost?? have the same or better flow?? please just tell me whats the difference between them an why would i swich it ### the 16g has double fins an the 14b does not....thanks

It will spool about the same and push as much boost as the one you currently have. As for flow, its really a crap shoot. Thats why ebay turbos suck. They are just cheaply, mass produced imatations. Poor quality parts...lead to failure. Weather it be seals or worse, blades/turbine falling apart. You never know what your getting. The 14b, will provide you with consistant power and i promise will be just as fun and snappy as your 16g.
