We've had pretty good luck with our Auto 2.3 liter and Dual BB DSM Black.. The Black is wicked on the street with pump and 8.8cr...Knocking on 9's now in the 1/4 at the track as well..

I forgot to mention I was manual... If you're an auto and he were gonna go auto, it would spool even quicker and pull sooner! Thanks for sharing, I agree!
 
Thats a DSM auto Myth I think.... 100 plus passes last summer with zero end clutch issues going to fourth in the 1/4... I have yet to see anybodys end clutch setup fail .. We are running Kiggly 5 disc front and Raybestos (IPT) end clutches..

I look at it like this- I can risk a 9k rpm "come apart" staying in 3rd...or change out a set of end clutches in 10 minutes if needed going to 4th..Which I havent had to do yet..
 
Is the FP Black the largest stock frame turbo? How does it compare to a HX40 in a T3 Bep housing.

Any issues running the FP Black with internal wastegate?

Like shearer_tsi said, the hta86 should be, but the internal wastegate will just be a very interesting boost control battle. I can't imagine you could have it work like you want at all circumstances but it's not impossible. Maybe for something low in boost it would be manageable but otherwise i'd strongly strongly recommend external.

It's the largest wheel set available in a TD05/TD06 center housing design. It's not really "stock frame" in the sense that it doesn't use an OEM TD05H cover.
How does it compare to a HX40 in a T3 Bep housing.
Compressor flow is similar, but you can't compare the turbine flow of an 8cm2 DSM bolt-on housing to a .70 T3 housing....not even close.

Probably lots. There isn't an actuator offered that is strong enough to control boost properly at levels where this turbo would like to be run. I think FP states they use a 15psi actuator on the DSM Black which is rather weak considering the Evo Blacks are offered with an 18psi and 25psi actuator.

Better plan on using an external gate if you want to use this turbo how it's intended.

My compound 2g lasted all of 1 shift into OD and it sheared the splines in the hub of the end clutch housing..

My buddy Jordan has my old AWD Spyder that he auto swapped it suffered the same demise when he accidentally shifted to OD in his car at the ECMLink meet this fall..
 
How do you like the link controlling the boost?

It works... It could be better... but so could everything in life..

Error correction in ECMLink boost control doesn't work so well.. it overshoots and undershoots so I leave it disabled...

Otherwise boost control itself works pretty good.. however w/o some sort of error correction boost levels will change some with climate and altitude... I notice I pick up a few PSI when I drive off the mountain ..

one of the main reasons I like it is the fact that you can use both ports on an external wastegate to control boost.. This helps control boost and allows you to run more boost when backpressure is high when you're running a setup that cannot evacuate the exhaust quickly enough for whatever reason..(Bolt on housing, tiny tubine, too small of exhaust ETC) .. Obviously running in those situations is not necessarily ideal.. and it makes the turbo work harder, and creates more heat than necessary... but it is a fairly common scenario in the DSM world ...

Boost by gear is especially awesome for FWD applications ..

I say stray from dsm flange and go with the hy35 or a 35r. Justin definitely knows his sh*t.

What solenoid are you using? My link boost control has been stable and done everything I've wanted. I don't have any real elevation change here.
