So I go to change one gasket. And lo and behold the stud strips out of the 7cm EVOIII O2 housing. So I try to tap it, get about 1/2 way done and realize it's just boring the hole out (I guess it's just pulling loose the metal left from the stud). So I guess my questions are:
1) Is it possible to remove the turbine housing without pulling the turbo? (2G) I see there's a vfaq for the 1G, just not sure if it applies due to spacing.
2) Is there anything a machine shop can do with this thing? And is it really reasonable or better to just get a new housing?
3) Is there a place other than Forced Performance to buy the EVOIII housings from? As much as I'd like to dump $225 plus shipping into my sub $500 turbo, they have to be around somewhere for cheaper. Even MachV's price is lower for the standard 7cm housing.
Thanks for your help guys.
