Hello everyone I'm ready to start tunning my GST with FIC 1200 high impedance injectors as my car won't turn on until I tune them I'm guessing as it cranks well. I am using ceddymods on ECU FLASH but I can't seem to find the latency settings anywhere I've tried a few that I've seen online for the 1150s but no luck turning on anyone can help me with this?

Can anyone help out how to tune 1200cc FIC injectors I’m trying to understand it a bit more as no one in my area tunes DSMS as they’re afraid to and don’t have the software they claim. But I already have ceddymods and my ECU ready just need help to make sure my latency’s settings are correct and already set scaling to 1200 any pointers as well while tuning injectors?

I can’t find any dead times for the FIC1200, only that they used to be the FIC 1100. The injectors should’ve come with a sheet that has the deadtimes on it. If they didn’t, email FIC and get them.

But, I would try the dead times for FIC 1100 high z injectors and that should get you close enough to start it. If it’s still not starting you’ve got another issue. It should run, albeit rough, if the deadtimes are even remotely close.

From there you can adjust fuel/etc like normal. If you were closer I’d head your way and show you. It’s easier to do in person.

Here are pictures of what came with my FIC 1200’s. Also I had to change settings in ecm link for the injector battery voltage tab.

Ok thank you for the input!

Thank you so much! I appreciate this I’m using ceddymods on ECU flash since I got the black box but I got this all setup now with the latency! But now my problem that it’s misfiring while trying to start the car up? Scared the hell out of me because it was cranking and then a popping noise happened am I miss firing from the injectors? Or lack of fuel it’s receiving?

You didn’t change anything to do with timing did you? If it backfires while cranking that seems like another problem honestly. Doesn’t sound deadtime related to me.

No I didn’t touch anything with the timing just the scaling and the settings then I started cranking it after flashing and that’s when it misfired so I think you’re right it maybe another problem now that I’m not aware of

A back fire would signal a timing issue or too much fuel to me personally. I just used the factory timing tables upon initial start-up. I have no experience with using ceddy mods personally. My first tune on my 99 my tuner did all the work with the black box and ceddy. I have since switched to ecmlink.

So look I swapped back to the oem injectors to just test out to see if it where the injectors but on the oem injectors the car wants to start it’ll start for about 2 seconds then die and shut off but all it does it cranks afterwards

Did you remove the injector resistor pack on the firewall behind the intake manifold and put the resistor delete plug in its place? The resistor pack is a silver rectangular box and is mounted to the firewall about in the center. Yours are high z injectors correct?

This right here. I’m curious as well.

No I did not I will though didn’t realize I missed that part! But yea they’re high z injectors

You need this. Go to STM’s website or ecmlink which is where I got mine. Or you can hack your harness up on your own as I will not guide you in doing so. I buy everything plug and play and haven’t cut any plugs on my harness and will try to not ever do so unless it’s my last resort. Probably $30 after shipping but it’s the 2-3 days of waiting that gets me 😆

Yup just ordered it haha exactly from stm tuned like you said plug and play is better but honestly did not know I needed this step that’s my fault at my end this would cause the back fire then? Also since I put the oem injectors back but it still won’t start again 🤦‍♂️ But if not then I’ll just wait for this plug to come in

I can’t speak on what this will cause without it because I have not experienced the car without one when I needed it. I knew I needed it and l switched to SD at the same time as upgrading injectors. I had running issues yes but once I set the fuel settings for the 1200’s and played with the VE table I could run the car enough to get it on the trailer to get to my tuner.

I did numerous things at once and was new to SD at the time so let the tuner handle most of it but I did ALL of the physical work part. I’m a lot better with ecmlink now. Stuff just takes time and I read about this stuff until my head hurts because it’s what I like ( playing with my car).

I recommend waiting patiently for the plug to arrive and in the meantime read all you can about using ceddy mods if you wanna dial it in yourself.

Yup exactly what I’m going to as there isn’t any tuner in my city willing to tune dsms which is odd but yes I’ll start doing more research

I’m a little worried about the injector drivers in the ecu getting damaged if the resistor pack wasn’t removed for the high z injectors or was removed for the low z stock ones.

BUT I don’t know enough to say for sure if that’s a risk. So don’t take my word as gospel. Hopefully someone more knowledge like Steve can correct me if it’s misinfo.

Not having the resistor pack bypassed with high impedance injectors wont hurt the ecu, however having the resistor pack bypassed and running stock injectors or any low impedance injectors could hurt the ecu.
