Try to crank the car, grinding sound and cams just shake.

Im posting this for a buddy. We just got his GSX running yesterday, he took it down the road and had some troubles so he came back. Then upon trying to start it back up you can hear the starter engaging but its making a clunking/grinding sound. Hes got a Fidanza lightweight flywheel, and I believe that the aluminum teeth stripped out just enough to where the starter just spins. Heres a short video so you can see just what Im trying to explain. Let me know your opinions.

is your starter loose by any chance. have you checked? because mine was from just one of the bolts and had almost the same noise, and also did not start.

Well I actually got off my lazy ass and went out to take a look at the car. Had my buddy crank the car over and I noticed that the water pump/alt belt was turning.. Thought to myself "well hey that means the crank is turning." So, I decided to pull the timing cover off and take a look at the timing belt, (thought maybe the teeth on the belt stripped off) Well heres what I found!

Not very sure how this happend WTF

....it's a good thing that it didn't start because that probably would've f'd more things up.

Ouch, did the valves make any contact?

Honestly I dont know. However, the timing belt is still tight believe it or not. From the crank sprocket all the way around the intake cam is still tight. When my buddy took the car down the road to do whatever kind of break in he was doing, he got into boost and an IC pipe popped off. He said he heard a pop and just thought that was what it was. Then the starting problem started. I have no idea how this could even happen. Maybe a seized BSE??

Any chance you left the screwdriver in the back of the block? The one that keeps the rear BS from spinning.

The balance shafts are eliminated. No screwdriver here! :thumb: Im thinking something seized or something. I have no idea how though.
