alright im pretty new to this sight but

i have a 1998 eclipse gst and my key hole wont turn on my trunk and my cable leading to the lever on the inside is broken, so i can get my trunk open at all been workin on tryin to open it for the past 3 hours and it just wont. i used to be able to pull the broken cable leading to the lever by the seat and that would pop it open but now that wont work, so now im screwed,

i did read on another forum to spray wd40 on the lock where the key goes but that didnt do anything any advise would really help:D:D:D:D

the thing is though i cant get the plastic cover off the back that covers that up because the trunk wont open haha

i did try pulling on the cable inside the cable already LOL ya idk what the hell im gonna do LOL

LOL i also tried that like i said have been workin on if for the past 3 hours with no luck, my whole back of my car is all ripped out even thought id make it easier

ya so any other advise, still cant get it open and i was thinking of taking it to a local mitsubishi dealer to see what they can do

Just a thought - if you remove the bolt caps and then the bolts that hold the locking mechanism, maybe you can raise the whole thing up far enough to get at the release lever with a screwdriver? This all from inside the trunk.
