Trouble removing stock T25 turbo

Hey guys so just an update on my turbo removal progress. I pretty much have everything off besides the oil feed line, but I can't lower it from the exhaust manifold. I did everything the tutorial said but it won't come off. Does it have to be disconnected from the exhaust pipe? If so I can't get the 2 bolts off for that even with Pb blaster. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!
 
You will definitely need to unbolt either the exhaust or the or housing. The downpipe needs to be unbolted from the turbo and from the bracket on the block (some cars have this removed). You need a bigger breaker bar if you can't get the nuts loose. If you haven't got them loose or snapped the stud yet than you aren't turning them hard enough.
 
I can remove a turbo in the time it takes my pizza to be delivered..

A breaker bar can also be used.. If u soak in pb blaster overnight, botls can be much easier to remove.

Ohh and t25,not t15.
 
You always usually have to get creative when breaking down a stock car due to age and rust. Breaker bar is available at Autozone as well.
 
You can get a breaker bar at harbor freight for like 10 bucks. That will be way more helpful than a little propane torch.
 
I have a craftsman 19 volt lithium iom impact..

It worked very well on removing those rusted on o2 housing to downpipe nuts..I happened to find a small adapter for it, I had just laying around.

Have not tried it on anything else tho.
 
I just got through removing my stock t25 and can relate my experience. First I removed all bolts for heat shields, then removed intake snorkel, and intercooler, and upper ic pipe. Then,, I removed the downpipe from the o2 housing. Now, all thats left are the water pipes and oil lines. I disassembled the oil line that is right below the turbo, undid the rubber water lines on the top side, then the 4 bolts that actually hold the turbo onto the manifold, and out came the turbo with hard lines all attached. Thats alot of stuff to un do just to drop the turbo. Today I get new studs and bolts, new crush washers, and new soft oil lines that goto the filter housing. Then,, in goes a new t28.

I use this stuff here at work and its pretty good , works better than the pb blaster I been using over the years. I use snap-on and harbor freight tools at work, as long as you get the good grade of harbor freight impact sockets they will work just fine. Besides they replace them if they break they have a lifetime warranty

Why remove the IC and UICP? When I swapped the turbo in a 2G I used to have, I left them in and they werent in the way at all. I would just remove the intake pipe at the MAF and the LICP. This should leave you plenty of room to remove the turbo.
 
Just an update on my turbo swap process, I bought the $38 power impact wrench and it took half a second before the bolt came loose, this thing is awesome! it was on sale for $38 and was normally $70. Well I got the old turbo removed, but got stuck removing the O2 sensor attached to the O2 housing. Looks like it's held on by a 20mm bolt and can only use a wrench, but I didn't have one big enough so I have to wait until Monday when I have time. Also I decided to move it out of the way and put the new turbo on as far as I could before I ran into another issue. Turns out this turbo didn't have the water line attached to it, so I have to take it off and swap it from the old one. Turned out to be a longer process than intended, but I'm almost there.

There isn't a special tool needed to remove that O2 sensor is there? Just looks like it's held on by a 20mm bolt. Thanks everyone! :thumb:
 
8 bucks at harbor freight, or you can usually rent them at parts stores.
