Transfer case recall+Canada

Hey guys,

My transfer case is leaking oil and I know it is on recall and read plenty of threads on it. I went to a Mitsubishi dealership here in Kitchener Ontario Canada and they said they would take a look at it. Once there I showed them the recall papers I found on the net. After a while they called me in the office and said they can't do it here (in Canada) because it's an American car and was never introduced to the Canadian market and has to be done in the States! He also told me to drive to buffalo or Detroit to get it serviced there.

I told him what the differences was if I got it done here or in the States, Mitsubishi is Mitsubishi whether you live in Canada or America or Japan. He said no it's a different company bla bla bla..Then he told me he would talk to his boss and call me once he comes in to work.

He called me and left a msg saying that they would not to do it here and that I have to go to the States and get it done there.

Any of you guys live in Canada specifically Ontario and did you service your transfer case and where?

Any other inputs/advice on what to do would be great!!

can you tell where its leaking from?is it leaking from the yoke area?if so i would just go ahead & fix it myself if i was you

Because Mitsubishi as a car company did not exist in Canada at the time these were built the recall would not have applied to them. If it was a Talon or Laser it would because they would have been covered by Chrysler warranty. You will have to have an American dealer service it because the recall applies there, not here.

k thanks guys. It's not leaking from the yoke area It's leaking somewhere on top of the transfer case on the right side.

Wouldn't be covered by the recall then. It's only for the yoke.
