Im trying to figure out what year this transfer case is. Its a 23 spline. I

s there anyway to figure out what year car this came from? thats the only markings i could find on there

If 23 spline, it's only 91-96 or 97-99. The difference is ratio and they have the same cases, so can't be sure what year from outside. To know which t-case you have, count how many turn it takes to lineup input/output (91-96 takes 12 turn, 97-98 takes 14 turn) or open up the gear cover and count the gear teeth number. I assume that's what you want to know.

yeah im trying to figure out if its below or above 96. I dont have a spare input shaft to do the test but ill figure it out. I was just trying to see if the marking meant anything.

You can use anything handy to spin it. It isn't so tough to turn that it requires the input shaft.
 
It would be really rare for it to be a iron head 22 spline case. 90% of them are aluminum headed unless the went thru the factory recall way back then. I have one iron head 22 spline myself and it was out of a factory recall car. You will need to count the turns or open it up.
