I can't pass inspection because I have no reverse lights.

I've put in three different reverse switches and its always the same outcome. The very end of it gets chopped off by the transmission.

I don't think I torqued it too tight, only hand tight plus 1/2 turn each time.

Any way to fix this minus getting a new trans.
 
Are you installing the washer with them?
 
There is suppose to be a crush washer on there to help seal transmission up. Plus it holds the switch in the correct spot.
