The last couple times Ive went to the track Im spinning all through 1st gear, its really pissing me off..

I am running 245 tires and probly ~500whp now. Should I be losing traction this bad at that power level? Are slicks just a must now? I wouldnt think I would need slicks at this point but its looking that way. Im usually pulling at least a decent 60 ft (1.8's) but thats when I get traction at first and then around 6500rpms I lose it. I can see it hurting my 1/8 mile times/speed.
Last time I was at the 1/8th I was running 7.4's @97-98mph. Now I was running 7.5-7.7 1/8th at 94-95mph. Maybe it was just crappy track prep?
I would think with 128mph traps I should be able to run better than 11.5-11.7's

I did run one 11.3, but thats the only run I got traction on and it was breaking up in the high rpms in 3rd pretty bad.

Want to get this sorted out over the winter for next year...

might be crappy track prep, i know my friend (evo viii with about 400hp) loses traction in first when he had dunlops sport ap2's now he has bfg drag radials and he barely spins when he leave the line.

try asking to see if you can walk on the track maybe before the time trials and see how good your feet stick to the pavement it. also are you slipping the clutch or just dropping it? and do you lower your tire pressure?

When running street tires at higher power levels, how you launch the car makes a huge difference in how it comes out of the hole. I am still able to cut 1.6 60's in the car even though it is literally spinning in every gear on street tires. I have some hoosier QTPs I will probably throw on the car next time out though. Running street tires is pretty much pointless now and its also causing a lot of drive train breakage.
