Towing with the front tires up and the rear tires spining

WELL i just read that towing a car like this would screw up the tranny or transfer case. While we were towing it the car was out of gear so hopefully that would bring some good news....
It was raining one day and i decided "Hey i bet i can get the rear end to swing out" and well it did. ALOT easier than i thought, it felt like it was rwd?
the previous owner told me how he put some shit in there to make it a 50/50 split. so 50% to the front and 50% to the back..

Towing with the axles spinning at different speeds will burn up and lock the viscous coupling. As far as 50/50 split, you can get close to it, only with an aftermarket diff.

IF you towed it with a sling where the front wheels could spin also than it would be fine. But using a wheel lift where the front wheels are locked will burn up the viscous couple as stated. Towing with a sling will also damage the front bumper. Your options are to remove the drive shaft and tow with a wheel lift, use a flat bed, or tow it with all 4 wheels on the ground (tow bar, or tow strap)

He told you the truth. Literally. Putting shit in the tranny will cause a DSM center's split to be 50/50. It's not so great for the gears (especially if you've been eating a lot of peanuts and are lazy about chewing) and might not shift all that smoothly, but it will be 50/50.

Well it doesn't shift that smoothly most of the time, We have a parts car here so ill compare parts and revert everything back to stock.
