There will always be people who hate products, and unfortunately those are typically the ones who take the time to write a review. Most satisfied customers don't bother... because they are happy. ! However, I have seen people who were happy take the time to do a review, and that is nice.

If you are looking for a good tire, that will give you good tire wear and performance, then I'd say stay away from the "may-pops" (some may pop, some may not!) aka... the cheapest tires. You might be looking at those based off your statement that all the reviews you have seen say they suck.

I've had a great experience with the BF Goordrch's. I typically run a G-force Sport or some sort, and they've been great for me for a daily tire. They cost a little more than the may-pop's, but they are better.

N/A or not, tires are very important.

They are the only thing that contacts the car with the road. Some really are better than others. Some with get you better fuel economy, some better handling, ect... which are all important regardless of what kind of car or power it has.

I've ran several tires from different brands and I would suggest either Goodyear eagle f1 gd3s or what I run now which are veredestein ultrac sessanta, they say there not great in the wet but I don't know why they say that as I think it's a great tire and handles much much better then my old goodyears but Goodyear are still a great tire. the vredesteins don't wear as fast as the goodyears and I've got many friends who now run vreds due to my reviews and that I push tires to the limits. both can be bought in the US, if I was over there though I would also like to run nitto invo or nitto nt-05 I think there called I've heard great things on them tires but they don't sell them in the UK so I'm just going on race cars that have used them

Actually, what makes a tire good for gas mileage is almost the exact opposite of what makes a tire good in snow.

The best, cheap, all-season in that size, IMO, is the Kumho Ecsta AST. $88 from Tire Rack.

It all depends upon your preferences and budget. Like talongirl said, I would stay away from the dirt cheap designs and sketchy brand names. An extra $20-30 per tire can go a long way towards quality and tread life.

My Spyder came with freshly installed Barum Bravarus 2 (sp?) tires, which are one prime example of the cheap "may-pop" tires. Harsh ride, noisy, zero grip, came with a 40k mile warranty, and wore out in 20k. I decided to cough up the extra $50/tire for new Michelin Destiny's. Much smoother and quieter, good grip in all conditions, and includes an 80k mile warranty. That extra $ goes far.

I run these and they are kick ass! Shitty if you get caught in the snow though for stopping. Goes very well though.

I ran Kuhmo ECSTA ASXs in that exact size on my daily driver Integra and I LOVED them. Quiet, handled well on dry or wet, and I got great gas mileage.
