Top end oil leak

So I have a half decent oil leak from my top end...looks like it is coming from the valve cover area...drivers side rear of the valve cover. Could possibly be coming from the little half moon shaped insert at the end of the rear cam. Is there any extra sealant that works well to keep this gasket from going faulty or am i just unlucky? Any ideas would be great, since i have not owned this car long enough to start seeing patterns in things

ITs possible check the half moon area, and the valve cover gasket make sure it hasnt come
loose.

Hah, I JUST sealed mine not too long ago.. I also asked about that same piece.. I was told in my thread that it comes factory sealed with RVT. So I sealed mine with that and it hasn't leaked since.. knock on wood. I sealed it really good and let it sit for about a day and it seems to hold up just fine now. Overall, a 4 dollar job.

That piece is supposed to be sealed with high temp RTV. Run a bead along the entire bottom edge and that should take care of your problem. If you have access to a Chilton's or a DSM service manual, they show you exactly what gasket surfaces you need to have RTV on. Thankfully on DSMs it's not many.

There was an issue with a slightly oversized headbolt (in the driver's side rear corner) that bottoms out and creates an oil leak from the headgasket. That bolt might be the problem, so check very carefully and confirm where your leak originates.
