So, I decided to finally post a story.

Tonight I have been following a regular routine for about 3 months now. Go outside sit and smoke a cigarette and stare into the sky. Well the last three nights at around 1-130 have been interesting. The first night I hear a low rumble exhaust, almost ricer but not. And I look, it is a mid 90's neon, slowing creeping into my court. I kinda shake it off, watch him drive around and slow down around my 2g. I thought nothing of it until it happened again the next night, until he slowed down some more near it. Well last night, the guy actually stopped and looked for a couple seconds then drove off again. Tonight was the best. The guy stopped, turned off car, and got out. I watch him walk up to my car from my resting spot in backyard. My first reaction is grab something and go. I see a wonderful empty propane tank from our grill and start walking up towards the front with a burning cigarette in mouth and a propane tank in hand. Stupid I know. I walk straight up in the direction of my car, and the guy finally notices me as he looks inside the car. I say "Is there a problem with my car?" He proceeds to look up and me, get a scared look and get into his car and roast his tires and drive off. Now I would be scared if a 6'4 275ish pound guy was walking up to me at 1:30 in the morning with a big ass propane tank in his hand.

Well I know where this kid lives, I see him and his buddy's outside their house working on their cars. One of the kids owns a 2g. Ive been pondering ideas of either screwing his car up, or screwing him up. I really don't mind the trouble of which I will get in either way. Some ideas I came up with was baseball threw window, effective, quick, and almost no way of getting caught. A buddy came up with idea of draining oil in car, leave no sign of being there. Lastly, I came up with confronting the guy, and beating him a new brain. So I need some DSMr's opinions.

I guess if somebody liked my car I'd probably beat them up too... :toobad:

i dont think anyone who "likes" your car would only check it out at 130 am 3 times and bone out as soon as the owner stopped by...

Crap. I thought we were going to get a cool Art Bell story or something.

See if your local police will take a report for the suspicious activity. There's probably not anything they can do about it at this point, but it may prove helpful to have the incident noted. He's casing your car with theft in mind, and no excuse he might offer will change that.
I'd stop in on him and his buddies and kind of mention that they've been noticed, and point out how sure you are there won't be any trouble. Particularly since you're packing the beef to make the message quite clear.
Car thieves don't deserve our oxygen.

Do what Defiant stated with a report to the police. Then if you have a copy of it or some kind of confirmation, go over to them since you know where they live, and present them with it, letting them know that the wheels are turning. And say something that if anything happens to your car starting from today, they are the number one suspects. That should keep them scared and not execute what they had been planning, and also avoid any violence.

Yes it does sound sweet to go and result with violence, but they obviously know who did it or set it up, and know where you live. And it will go on and on until someone shows who really is HARDCORE and or stupid and decides to kill first. :)

Uhm, you didn't #### him up right then and there? WHY? I would've beat the shit out of him no questions asked. After him creeping on my car a couple nights beforehand, I would've been waiting for his ass.

I understand the legality issue with the police report and all. But the draining oil is good.

The 2g is going into storage tomorrow until I get another motor for it.

a 6'4 275 guy fits nice and snug in the drivers seat. I am used to small cars. I have drive a RHD MG around for about 2 weeks while my buddys dad was out of town. Its all about knowing how to flow the ocean :)

draining the oil is good. LOL soo messed up but a good idea. i'll have to keep that in mind. i dont condone* anyone messing with someone else's car but i would have beat the brakes off this person after seeing them a few nights in a row doing the same shit at my house looking at my car. if nothing else walked up to asked questions(showed up at his house w/ a bat/pipe/equalizer) to ask questions.

Just sit outside a few more times and watch if the retard come back. He probably won't, not for a few months anyway. In the meantime, upgrade your vehicles security- it's nice knowing your enemy, i.e. its not a pro with a flatbed, its some douche down the street. A good quality alarm w/pager, and a few killswitches should be all that is necessary in this application.

File the unusual activity with the police. I would also talk to them the next time you see them working on their car. Alarm & pager would work very nicely as well. I also like the idea of unplugging the coilpack at night if you can. Or something else to make the car undriveable without undoing the battery. I've heard where people have run their AEM or ecu stuff to a place where they can pull it out very easily at night. Thieves won't be looking to diagnose the problem first off, they may think it's their shit hackjob wiring they did trying to steal it, and also the whole while your alarm will going off, and you'll be on your way down with the propane tank and cigarette.

I say show up at their house and go physco on them. Say if you step one foot near my car again I will gut you like a fish. Scare the holy hell out of them. Or you could drain the oil... that's pretty good. Or do what defiant said.

File a police report, but loosening the drain plug is a funny idea.

I'd just stop by when they're working on their car(s) and having a little chat and make them piss themselves. Let me know if there's a beat down though. :) I'm not too far away.

I wouldn't do anything to someone elses vehicle. I mean your just asking for trouble. It's kind of like I poke your eye out, now you get to poke mine out.

You should buy a small hidden camera and conceal it close to your vehicle. Then you could catch them red handed if they do anything to your car.

or

get a garage:cool:

Bart,

I have to say that mostly I agree with Defiant on this one.
There was a time when I was in a situation close to yours. I installed a nice security system with a fuel pump cutout that week.

Here is how I handled it:
I waited for them one day to come by and scope my car. As they were doing it, I ran out and got in my car and chased them. They ended up leading me on a nice relaxing 30 minute or so drive before they stopped. I then approached and basically told the kids that I had a friend in the police force run their plates and that I had enough of their info to be able to wage a legal battle that would not end in their favor. I then told them to leave and if I ever saw them back, they had better be wearing flack jackets.

That seemed to solve my problem. Now the only use I get out of that security system is an instant "cat get of my hood" button, and a humorous reaction when the neighbors little kid mis-throws his nerf football.

He's probably just driving around and thinks your car is cool. What is he going to do? Steal it and drive it around?

He could do something to it out of jealousy. Or maybe his buddy (one with the 2g) needs some parts and is too cheap to buy them and they are eyeing up the car to jack something. Ya never know, but I wouldn't just forget about it when someone creeps around my car at 1 in the morning 3 nights in a row...

Bart, You need to roll up on them when they are out working on their cars and lay it down. Get him to tell you exactly why he was scoping out your car at 1-130 in the morning and then decided to take off when he saw you. He probably has no idea that you know where he lives and thinks that he got off easy. You have the element of suprise this time. Use it.

When you say kid, are we talking about the kind of kid who lives at home whose parents don't know he's scoping cars at 1am? Or just kid in the broader sense of the word?

If its the first, it would probably be worth it to also have a word with them about the path their son is on, as regards you and your car. You can't get arrested for making his parents beat him senseless.

The kid is 21-25. Im turning 18 soon. I think I should attack here soon
