Well for all you that dont know the talon got rear ended and got totalled. Drivable but I hate driving a car with damage. I found a clean shell and was just going to pull motor and trans out and drop it in the other car. Well my motor is stock with plenty of maintence. New headgasket with maybe 1 or 2k miles, timing compents with 10k miles on it, and rebuilt head (springs retainers have about 160k miles on it) 10k on bc 272. Bottem end was jdm 7 bolt with around 50-60k miles on it. Crank starting to walk. Just at rebuild stage. I asked dogbox where I got the trans rebuilt to check it for me. Check compression 190s across the board. I am planning on pushing the car to its max on 18g tdo6 and get my 20g tdo6 rebuilt. Right now the 18g is on 25 psi. So question is to rebuild or not. I hate this motor to blow couple thousand miles down the road. (just my luck) So need some opinions. Thanks for your thoughts.

well, i have had a few engines with the c.w issue, and i suggest it that if it developed c.w then junk it, but if you have a 7 bolt that never had it, then it MAY be ok to rebuild. everyone says that you can take a 7 bolt that never had the symptoms, rebuild it, then a month later have horrible c.w. others say that if you rebuild a motor that had it, then never developed it after rebuild. i guess it is a coin flip. i just got done rebuilding the engine in my 2g, it had 110,000 on it with everything being within spec, including crank -end play. and is going great

I would rebuild it before it causes any damage. I'm doing that right now with my 97 gst previous owner claim he rebuilt the motor but didn't put in the rod bearing in #3 rod. I got a call from the machine shop today and the crank is junk. Today I will decide on picking up a rotating assemblies from SlowBoy.
