to rebuild or not to rebuild

hear's the deal. I have a 92 laser turbo awd rs, and the dip stick flies out (piston rings) and it blows blue smoke when it idles for a little bit and when i first start it( bad valve guid seals). My dad said that if it goes we will just get a new short block and rebuild the head. I'm not sure if it is a 6 or 7 bolt engine, if it is a 6 bolt i want to rebuild it to handle low 11s passes in the 1/4 and still be able to use it as a DD. if it is a 7 bolt we will replace it with like a dsmparts short block or something. I want to do it once and do it right.... the first time. if it is a 6 bolt what do you guys think I should put in it, ie. pistons, rods, etc.

by the way we have a budget of like 2500 bucks. thanks in advance

If you don't want to rebuild it. Look into getting a cyclone motor. Their like $1400. Look at the oil pan on the timing side if there is a dent it is a 6 bolt. If you want to do the cylone with the rest you could buy exhaust, turbo intercooler and other upgrades hope this helps good luck

The dipstick flying out is just from boosting normally, crimp your dipstick tube with a pair of pliers, problem solved. Blue smoke at first start isnt too good, id compression test and see exactly where you're at.

2500 is your budjet. I say go stroker you will not regret it. Stoker kits go for like 1500 and you can do the rest of the work yourself except machine work of course

I thought if it has a dent towards the passenger side, it is a 7 bolt. it it has a hump towards the driver side direction then it is a 6 bolt.

My car has 113,330 miles on it. The or does that matter when you do something like a stroker kit? How much do you guys usually overbore the block, like .020 or .030 over stock?

If it is a 7 bolt what would you guys do? racing shortblock, slavage yard,etc.

by the way i will check tomorrow and see if it is a 6 or 7 bolt.
