timing jumped, valves hit pistons, etc. (Crank bolt got loose)

Somehow my crank bolt started backing out that allowed the crank timing belt pulley to back off the crank and disengage with the key on crank. Thus while driving the timing slipped and all valves hit pistons. My questions is how bad is acceptable for dents in pistons from valves kissing them? I will post up some pics of the pistons in a bit.

Here are pics of the horror..

i had some jagged metal pieces on the reliefs from when my valves met the piston. i tapped them down a bit with a small hammer and they gave me no problems. try not to have sharp edges that can heat up and cause detonation.

I agree with the others you should be fine. On another topic since you already have the head off the car, I would go all the way and re-hone the cylinders and install new piston rings. I regret not doing this on my GSX the last time I took the head off to replace an exhaust valve and valve stem seals.

File down any sharp edges on the valve reliefs, sand paper the valve relief contour back in, wire wheel the carbon of off the top of the pistons and you will be good to go.

You may want to drop the oil pan and pop the pistons out, and check to make sure the rings still spin freely in the ring lands.
Better to know than guess or assume.

I hope you did not pinch a ring.
