I'm curious to see what you guys think...an accessory belt broke and tangled with the timing belt upon startup, causing the timing belt to jump a tooth. After cranking the car a couple of times I diagnosed what had happened and stopped.

Timing is off enough to cause interference, as I discovered by taking out all the spark plugs and trying to turn the engine over by hand (pistons are bumping up against valves), but is idling and turning the engine over via the starter enough to bend them? If so, how bent up are they?

Thanks!

Put the belt on correctly and do a compression test.
And yes, just cranking the engine over with the timing off will bend valves. (ask me how I know)

If it's causing interference, isn't it already done for? Compression test! If it's got enough force, any speed will cause something to break/bend if it's interfering.

Man that really sucks, are you still 7 bolt Grey? I've still got my old head laying around I think, but I think shipping would end up being more expensive then just replacing the parts. Sorry man.
