I've searched with out finding a clarifying answer for my situation. Ok i just got my car back up and running. After stroking it, i get in in the other day and go to drive it after only getting to put 300 miles on it. So the timing belt jumped like three teeth. Great i cant catch a break with this car
, so i retime it and do a compression check. No compression in cylinders three and four. So my question is what would make it jump time, and can i just smooth the pistons if their not bad. Thanks for the input

/jk I agree with old mistu tech, just clean up the pistons and replace ALL of the timing components this time, and set them to the letter of the instructions and you should be fine!
. I replaced everything on the short block all new timing components, all genuine mitsubishi. I followed the vfaq instructions on changing the timing belt. The belt was taught all the way around, i'll try again and follow the instructions to a t. thanks for the insight
