timing belt tentioner?

My talon is making a ticking noise at ideal. Sound is going from the bottom of the motor on the timing belt side. As soon as it comes off ideal it stops . I don't have time to take it apart till the weekend so I figured is ask if anyone has ran into this. It's not such a big deal if it is . Belt needs changed anyways I'm sure.

Highly doubt it's the tensioner but if you could post a video that would be great.

I think you are hearing lifter tick which is due to the lifters having HORRIBLY small oil passages. These passages were revised with "3g" lifters or "revised" lifters.

You can try different remedies to treat lifter tick but believe me they will do it again eventually.

But yeah, a video would be nice.




*edit* I decided to add a bit more information for clarity. At idle oil pressure goes down, with more throttle you go up in pressure. The lifter tick goes away as you have enough oil pressure.

It definitely could be your tensioner. I had one go bad one time and it did the exact same thing. Sometimes it would go away once it was brought up off idle and other times it would continue to tick. I would say if you can definitely tell it is coming from the lower belt side of the engine it surely could be your tensioner. After replacing the tensioner and timing belt my problem was cured. Good luck

If this is so then shut it off until you replace it.

My balance shaft belt was broke. I got some time to work on it tonight. Have I dAmaged my motor by driving it w that belt broken
