ok first id like to say im new to these forums and woud like to introduce my self. name is aaron and been dealin with eclipses for close to 2 yrs now.

ok just recently i had put a diff block in my car and now i cant get the timing belt to tention up. i had went to the shop my old block is at and got parts i needed to complete the 1 i just bought. when i put the automatic tensioner on n pull the pin i can still move the pulley/bracket it suspose to hit on(moves like 1/16 to 1/8 inch). now the block that was in was a 97 and the tensioner was also. and im thinkin the block i had put in may have been from early 95. ne here know the differance between the tensioners from 95 and 97 i know the design is different but what about size or does the pin springs out further? im really stumped on this and not gettin much help at my other forum or they r also stumped. well i hope to have a few helpful anwsers

Check this thread out. There is a different auto tensioner for 95s and 97s. On the first page there are several pics and part #s for the different auto tensioners.
Are you sure the tensioner arm and tensioner are on correct? Once you pull the pin the auto tensioner arm isnt supposed to move. You are tensioning the belt with the tensioner pulley first right?

That has a lot of helpful pics even though its a 6bolt.

the only differance i know of is the way it looks. and when i pull the pin the other pin shoots out but never hits the bracket the pulley is on. is there a way to adjust or do i need a tensioner from a 95

the first pic is the 1 i have on now and the second is what i think i may need
