1G Timing Belt slides off the teeth

The timing looks like it did jump to a tooth or 2. I kno it proably is whats making my car run bad cuase it has been down for a week and ive been discovering new things so im going to do the timing right and see if it fixes the problem of my car running bad.

I wast told by a good friend of mine that on any Mitsu, when you change the timing belt you should also replace the tensioner.
He learned from experience he said when he did'nt change the tensioner and it blew up, yes literally blew up, causing the belt to jump and bending the valves in the head.

Hopefully, your problem is the tensioner and you catch before this happens.

If that belt jumped a couple teeth, you might already have some bent valves. Get it in time and do a compression check.

yea cuase my car sounds like its tapping. Something really bad like it'll start First time run high at 1500 and just tap then it'll drop to 1000 and then it'll drop lower try to catch itself and it bogs out and just dies. Im like what did i do must have slipped when i was priming the new turbo not good at all and ill do a compression test to its proably why my car was having trouble couple nights before was at a light turned green and well the car died when i pushed the gas.:( WTF

I'm not sure how much I or anyone here could stress the fact about the importance of your timing belt. From current experience, I would suggest NOT driving your car, or run it for the matter, and get in there and replace ALL timing belt components. If you belt slipped off once, then there is defently something wrong. You run the car like that, and you'll find yourself with a few unhappy valves.

yeah sounds good. I mean im just buying new pulleys cuase the belt is like maybe 20 k miles old and not really worth to spend on a new one if theres nothing wrong with this one. Thanks thoe and the tensioner is the hole that theres threads at the end and its below the hole right where u can also use the battery hold down bolt and screw it in and it relieves the tension on the belt so it just slips on??

agreed, dont drive it at all until you get that timing done. $200 for all timing belt componenets, or $1000 for timing components, 16 valves, head gasket, machine work. and alot of down time. NOT WORTH IT!.

Yeah not really. I just need to get my car fixed cuase right now im driving around a stock Little Toyota corolla it gets good gas mileage but its only like 120 to 125 hp

Well ask yourself this...
Would you rather be in a slow Corolla until you fix your car right?
Or be in a slow Corolla and have alot less money because you did'nt fix your car right?
